Sooooooo my father in law wants to give me his boat. Here is the catch. The boat is a 1979 ski tique. He says he used it for a few years (2nd owner) and it has about 600 hours on it. When he moved from his lake house he then winterized it, covered it and stored it outside for the past 20 years. The trailer looks really rusty and I'm afraid to tow it. Can anyone give me an idea on what I would be looking at cost wise on getting it running? Is it worth anything? Obviously there are a lot of unknowns and all fluids would have to be drained. I am just curious on what experienced ski tiquers thoughts are before I get ripped off by boat mechanic.

Agreed pictures would help with a more accurate analysis.. if you have worries about trailer is a worry- don't drive it. A boat that has sat for 20 years may have some big time issues, but is stored properly it may not. . Worst case if your not a passionate correct craft person- there are ways to keep that boat alive with someone on this site.
