So this morning I was launching my boat by myself on a shallow ramp. I had to get in the boat and back it of applying some heavy throttle. No biggie. So I took the boat for a little spin enjoying the early morning glass and noticed a bit of white smoke coming from the exhaust. I then checked the gauges and noticed I was running a little hot maybe 190 and the hit 200 so I cut the boat off let it cool for a bit and managed to make it back to the pier never going over 195 degrees. So now I'm trying to determine why I'm running hot. I've come to the conclusion I may have disturbed the wood chips (broken sticks that have turned almost to chips) on the bottom of the lake at the ramp as well as sand and sucked it up the intake. I looked at the water supply line and it goes directly to the tranny cooler. (No strainer) so I guess my question is, does it sound logical to assume that the screen in the heat exchanger is partially clogged with debris and if so should I be able to pull the supply line and clean the screen out?

Very well could be except there is no screen,if you look in you will see just tubes. Pull the intake hose and look in, if it's easy pull the other end hose off where ever you can, either on the cooler or on the other end where that attaches and use a hose to back flush. Be real careful not to pry on the cooler hose, the cooler it's self is soft brass

On the shallow ramp, did you run the engine without water to the RWP?
