Any thoughts on upgrading the controls on a 68 mustang with MV-1 controls? Looking to make the boat safer for my 16 yr old to operate.

Thanks
Todd

What controller do you have? If you want to make the boat safer, install a kill switch. Everybody hates them and carry on about them but ignore those folks.

IT has a Morse MV-1 control currently. The kill switch is a good idea but would like to have a better lockout for fwd & reverse

Need an MV- 2 for that. They are hard to find. Last summer a guy had some on eBay and they went for over $350 each. That's about what they cost new- so I guess it was a good deal to find some since they stopped making them in the 1990's. I have a super nice used one with a brand new lever. Message me if Your interresred. I think the Mv-3 won't work on your boat without a lot of modifications since it doesn't have a face plate the the Mv-1and Mv-2.

David,
The lockout on the MV1 works as long as it is used. The main feature the MV1 lacks is it can be bumped into forward and reverse and if the lockout isn't pulled, the trans will engage.

David,

If you decide to go to a MV-2 I would be interested in purchasing your MV1

I have a used but in decent shape SINGLE MV TELEFLEX from my 1997 Nautique that you can have for a decent price if it would work for you. The neutral safety is on the transmission rather than the control if that matters.

Jim,
I may be interested. I am not sure what you mean the safety switch being on the transmission. it still actuates from the shifter correct?
What price are you looking for for it?

Thank you,

Keith

The mechanical lock in neutral is in the shifter itself. The electric switch that prevents starting in gear seems to be on the transmission, not in the shifter. Jim
