Hello, I'm new to the forum. I have owned 3 Ski Nautiques in my life.
The one I currently own is a 1998 SNOB with a GT40. It was running fine when I last used it three years ago. A couple of weeks ago I cleaned it up, changed the oil, cleaned the cap, checked the plugs. I removed all of the old fuel. Fuel filter looked fine. When I run it in the yard with trans. shifter disconnected, so I could rev it up, it runs fine. This weekend we took it out and it starts fine and has plenty of power and revs good in revers. When I put it in forward, it will only rev to about 2500 rpm. There is nothing on the shaft or prop. If in SLOW mode how does it know it in forward gear? Could it be the trans? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike |

I think reverse is higher gear reduction, could explain why it revs easier.
Have you checked timing advance? |

So.......how fast are you driving this thing in reverse ?
The PCM 1.23 to 1 trans has about a 1.8 to 1 reduction ratio in reverse |

First think I would check is fuel pressure... 40 PSI at the rail?
I can't remember if you have a traditional distributor on that GT-40? if you do, the advance weights in the distributor could be stuck. 3 years is a long time to sit, so they may have some rust or stickiness in them. Not likely limp mode, Lewy has said recently that limp is a lower RPM, just enough to get you back to the dock. |

Update:
40 psi at fuel rail. New spark plugs. All plug wires tested good. Cleaned park arrester. Still lacks power in forward. |

A description of what it does when it gets to 2500 rpm and if it's sluggish getting there would be helpful along with a description of operating in reverse, like how high are you revving it in reverse.
There's a manual in the reference section Your distributor doesn't have flyweights, the timing is electronically controlled by the computer and the manual tells how to check it GT-40 problems have been popular lately, look at some recent threads to get some ideas about what your issue may be. Easiest way is a Google search "correctcraftfan GT-40". # years of sitting may have led to plugged/restricted injectors |

Thanks for responses.
Next I'm pulling the upper intake. Pull injectors and bench test them. I also noticed that mice/rats chewed on some of the enjector wires coating. I'm also going to replace those wires. I'll post updates as time allows. Thanks |

Update:
Bench tested all injectors, 3 we're not working. Swapped them out for good ones I had. I also put some liquid electrical tape on the wires the mice chewed on. I feel very confident that this resolved the issue. Hopefully we can take it out tomorrow. I will update after testing. |
