In search for these parts:

1. Back aluminum rod/tube grab bar. We have the connectors but the pole is bent. May be easy to have a new aluminum pole made but asking first.

2. The hood scoop (only need the hood) – on the 78, this was a molded fiberglass add-on that we can cover with the new upholstery. I’d love to have crome scoops made but that wouldn’t be “authentic”!

3. Horn – a better option than the original!

Susan,
If no one has the aft tow rope guard, raw tubing to fit the deck brackets can be purchased and bent to fit. BTW, it's not a grab bar and it looks like that's what someone used it for or your Tique!

Yes, the hood scoops are covered with the same vinyl as the upholstery. I suggest looking into that when the time come for upholstery.

Horns were pretty much a dealer installed item. Many when with trumpet style electric or air operated.

Got it!

regarding the scoop - Yes, we are actually working on the new skins now because we want to be sure that we confirm the graphics colors and choose the skins to match...so we're doing it all now so the hood scoop is priority.

I agree with the trumpet style - i'm in search for one.

Any interest in these? The soup came from a 77ski nautique, but it should fit.front most screw holes are about 11 5/8 center to center. Make an offer via pm if you're interested

I don’t know why people insist on using the rope rail as a grab bar. That’s started a fight or two in my boat. Is the rail same for the Tique and Nautique? Randy should have some rails already bent, http://www.rcarnoldfiberglassrepair.com/#2926

You have a scoop to pull a plug off of. Then layup another scoop off of the plug. Simple job for your glass guy.
Keep it as original as YOU want it

Hmm..."Then layup another scoop off of the plug"...
Can you clarify this? I'm not sure what you mean but I have the 2 smaller scoops for the back and I need a mold for the front, hood scoop. The one we had was built by using an old license plate and some wood when it was reupholstered in the 90's so i don't have anything to work off of. I'd rather get one that I know is the original size...I'll check to see if the Natique is the same.

Susan,
Basically a "plug" is a mold made from a good or repaired piece. In this case, a female mold could be made from a scoop and then duplicate scoops made using the new mold.

Susan,
I think Tim B did make a mold for the scoops so hang on and see if he'll reply. If not, then there's a good chance that someone will have a large one for you.

Besides someone using the rope guard for a grab bar, it sounds like someone at one time used your scoop for a step!!

Why not just get Scoot's scoop that he offered?

It's available and I doubt he wants much for it and it'll fit and look better than an old license plate and wood especially when it's reupholstered.

Hey all, I'd like to circle back around on the issue with the horn for my 78 SkiTique restoration. The picture at the beginning of this thread will show you what we had - UGLY! My husband is not a fan of the trumpet horns and i don't like the AFI mini's either. I don't even care about putting one back on but there are 2 holes on the top of the bow from the original installation. Any suggestions?

You could try one of the gel patch kits or just put a couple of SS decorative machine screws in the holes.

BTW, a horn is a USCG requirement.

If you don't want something permanent, one of these will meet the requirement:

Susan, as much as you would like to get rid of the horn on the boat, I would suggest that you don't.....
1. For lots of Safety Reasons
2. It's a Coast Guard requirement to have the means to signal others. Whistle, Air (in a can) Horn, Boat Horn

I really like the dual trumpets on my 72 Mustang. They are extremely loud and actually fun to use. Usually scares the crap out of people and other boaters.

Seriously though, I know you're husband isn't fond of them but trumpets do add some flash, style, and cool factor to the 70's boats IMHO.

We had air trumpets on our 66 Mustang, yes, very cool.

My brother still has the set, even tho that boat is long gone. My dad also put on that deck mount speedometer, which I also thought was pretty cool. Liked it so much, I got one for my first boat, my Taylor jet, back in the early 80s. I dont think you can find them any more. I've looked. I do have one old one I salvaged. Case is kind of pitted, but I bet I could get it rechromed, and the guts seem shot, but I bet I could find other guts too.

Too funny! Ok, I get that you guys vote for the trumpets but it wasn't original to our boat so I'm guessing it's not original to the year (1978 Ski Tique). Anyone else have images of their original and/or replacement horn for the same boat? We're trying to get all the gauges and toggle switches all connected and the options seem limited.

Susan,
The horns were an option and in most cases were dealer installed if it didn't come from the factory with one or one of the distribution centers with one. The buyer pretty much determined what type. My 77 has trumpets.
