Ok. Looks like a decent project boat. Interior is trashed with lots of missing pieces including driver’s seat. Speedo’s missing needles. No trailer. Mangled Propellor. Sold as is where is......but “it starts right up”.

Silly bidding with days to go

$10,100 and 4 Days to go. So you do the math. Trailer: $2000, interior $3500-$5000 (missing drivers seat and other interior pieces)—I mean seriously folks. We are at the $17k mark and there’s time left to watch the insanity grow.

Pretty misleading ad.

Layout photo may not be understood as brochure only

The interior pix are way down the list.

We might have a new member soon asking for where to find a seat.

"the tips of the prop are a little bent and it will need to be redone"

Looks like they sell more RV's than boats!!

The buyer will need a new RWP impeller too!!

I see nothing wrong Peter, I question your math. You have a trailer,a complete interior and a taken care of boat. Save that ad it may help when you sell yours

Maybe the perfect time to sell mine on Ebay! Point of that ad that bothers me is exactly what Pete says; brochure avoids all the nasty photos until way down, and shows the correct trailer but then says it’s not included.

Those missing interior pieces aren’t as easy to get, and this boat is a mess of things to fix. Hope it sells for big bucks and we get another CCF SS owner!

Check out the water line on inside transom and all the rust on the hatch ram. If not been sunk dam close to it. Missing to many parts. Have Used Driver seat available.

It looks like it took on water Maybe filled up with rain on a trailer that gave out (no trailer) makes you wonder how closely bidders look when they get goo-goo eyed for a
V-drive. Seller also calls it a Super Air when it clearly says Super Sport on the side.

I was gonna bid on it but the silly upside backwerds tachometer is just too confusing for me. The tach kinda reminds me of the 2008 Ford Super Duties with an upside down grill.

Yeah—both airguide speedos are missing their needles. Must have gone through a time warp or something.

Judging by that prop, two depth finders weren’t enough.

Look closer and you will see the speedos have the needles-just faded white.

That’s a fix on the checklist I could handle. One skinny brush and Testor’s
Flat black from the 70’s airplane model kit in the basement!

Seriously a 98 or is it a 99 SS in “as is where is” with a trailer and a trashed but complete interior that wasn’t sunk is worth $9-$10k. Hope we get whoever buys this thing in CCF so we can all donate our spares to save them from financial stress.

Poor guy obviously has very little experience with online buying, and ebay in particular. Wonder if he knows he can retract his bid??   Well, he's got a little over a day to come to his senses.

I think if your driving to Texas to get a boat with no trailer that this one would be a better buy. It should buff out nicely. If it don't it has a nice GT40 with about 222 hours for a transplant and alot of good other parts to help offset the price

No more bids in the last 2 days. I wonder if 2***x is getting bidder's remorse yet.

Or the marina is bidding it up and will cancel the auction if they win it.

Yup. No reserve auctions are a cesspool of fraudulent behavior. They do have to pay the Ebay selling fee if they do that unless they create a fraudulent account which they probably do. Usually when there’s no counter-bidding it’s junk bidding.

I just did a search for complaints on Empire RV and Marine. Keep in mind every business has dissatisfied customers but a few things did pop up regarding scrams and rip offs on Empire!!

Somebody dropped out of the bidding. Looks like anyone can escape with their deposit if there’s a conflict in the item description or if a professional inspection shows something incorrect. One example might be where the seller calls it a Super Sport and also a Super Air. What a messy sale.

I tried to buy a local ebay boat outright after inspecting it. Guy said no. I suspect he was bidding against me to bid it up. Auction cancelled. I got it the second time it was listed for less than I offered him in his driveway. That was a long time ago. Have not done much with ebay in years.

Thought about bidding. Ended at $9,100. Would have been okay if it had a trailer. Way too many unknowns otherwise. Tough to find a good trailer on a whim.

Yeah but a no reserve auction would make selling the trailer a good move. Did you see the “sold” markings near the tongue? I bet they’ll be willing to sell the trailer to the proud buyer for “a special deal” like $3500 or so. Then you’ve got a $12500 project boat needing an interior, prop, new carpeting, and god knows what!

Ebay is a sad place to buy cars and boats. I did it once but that’s the end of that unless I get eyes on it.

Well, I'm the lucky guy.

Honestly I was relieved when I got outbid, then that last day the guy who outbid me retracted his bid.

At $9100 I can justify this project to my wife even if I have $20k in it by the time I'm done going through it.

I have family who have an interior shop, so we'll do that there and can make panels if I can't source them. Overall I'm hoping some time, money, and sweat equity will get me into a V Drive when I can't justify $20-25k up front to my wife right now.

Anyone have leads on a trailer or the pile of parts I need for this thing? :D haha

I think you’ll be ok knowing the interior shop connection assuming the condition of all the other systems works out. I’m concerned about the water line inside and the rust on the manifolds and hatch cylinder shows it might be full of water or worse.

That’s a good one about the higher bidder backing out. You can still back out and you’ll find plenty of Super Sports under $20 with a trailer and in good shape. I’m seriously thinking you’ll be even Steven versus a decent market boat this time of year.
