OK Guys. I'm here for your expertise.

I just purchased a (believed to be) 1963 CC American Skier.
I found the tag near the engine reading "AM195"
It has a V8 in it. Red tag Velvet drive transmission.

I would like to discuss with this knowledgeable group about the boat I have.

I'm wondering a few things off the top of my head as of right now.

1. Where can I find my HIN?
I looked around the Stern/Transom/Rear of the vessel with no luck.

2. Is the V8 in this vessel factory or swapped out?

3. Original color, trim, and options this vessel was ordered with.
I have reached out to CC with the AM195 to see if they can educate me some.

4. The Forum's opinion on it's value in it's current state.

5. Capacity ratings

I am hoping to drag it to the meeting at Green Lake to get some pointers from some of the members and get to know some folks.

Thanks all, Look forward to discussion with you all.

James,
No HIN's until the early 70's. Pictures would be great but also if you can get it to GL you'll get plenty of advice.

Welcome to CCfan.

Yup I'm working on getting the pictures up shortly. Hoping someone will recognize it and have some extra history info on it as well.

Stand by for photos shortly

Glad to hear HIN wasn't till the 70's. Wouldn't want to be missing one of those

James,
I have a strong suspicion that the engine isn't the original.

Are these V8 engines just lying around fairly common enough where it was likely that a guy could pick one up and slap it in the boat?

James

I have a strong suspicion that not much of anything on the boat is original.

If you post any more pictures, Pete will probably have "the big one"

Post at least 3 or 4 more pictures

Not knowing a ton about these boats I can spot a few things that aren't right (stock/factory).

When did the Windsor interceptors start production? The 260 and 289 were in production by ‘63 in the Auto world. The engine installed here is certainly an early one with the blocked off timing cover (no circ pump) and low mounted rwp. Consistent with the early mustangs (65ish) I’ve seen.

Sadly it’s probably the closest piece to being original on the boat, I don’t see another piece of hardware that dates back any earlier.

221 and 260 Fords came out in 62 and the 289 was in 63.

Don't see anything in a 63 brochure about a small block Ford in this boat.

Maybe it's original and the boat is newer than 63 or it was a special order.

I like the plug wires too

No Dissappointment here. I'm just happy to be getting insight into the current state it's in.

so the vents at aft are not supposed to be there either?

ok upon second look i see what must say interceptor V6. its fuzzy and at quick glance i thought it may jump to a V8. thus only 30hp gain since its only a 6. That makes sense.

That boat is so far from original that I wouldn't worry about any of it. I would just make improvements to make the boat functional and use and enjoy it just they way it is.

Well at least we know the plug wires will be new when it fires up!

James, please count the spark plugs to confirm V8 or V6.

If your son loves the boat, you've got a huge success with it! That's really the only audience that matters.

What Riley said ^^^

pictures of almost anything will do, just trying to give Pete some chest pains

A close up of that plastic fuel filter would be good

That 63 interceptor you refer to was an in line 6

pretty much the plan. I'll probably offer it to someone who fits in it. If I find no takers I'll play with it in my free time. It's a shame that people did this over time..

I figured that might drive Pete right over the edge and if that didn't work then a good closeup of the vacuum advance canister on the distributor would be the next request.

Ditch the lettering on the sides and the transom (nautical term Pete), color coordinate the interior, make it run with marine accessories and you and junior have some fun with it.

Assuming the internals are in tact this thing looks like its been laid up a good while. It may be more labor than it's worth I'm afraid.

James,
The issue with the inline fuel filter is if it meets USCG regs with the hose barb arrangement plus if it's rated for the high pressure side of the fuel pump. The hose used needs the rating as well.

Then, Ken mentioned the distributor being automotive as it has the vacuum advance. A marine is a mechanical advance.

What do you know about the PO? Looks like he really "pieced" the engine and boat together!
