I have a 1989 Sport Nautique. The volt meter never reads above 11 volts. When I turn on the blower it reads 10. If it use the radio it drops to 8. The red warning light is on all the time. Any suggestions on what it causing this?

Tom,
When you get the low volt readings at the gauge, get the VOM out and see what you get at the battery. Most likely it may be dirty connections up to the dash plus the well known undersize wire. If you get a low reading at the battery, then there's something going on with the alternator. |

Thank You For the quick reply. I suspect it will be the wiring issue as this has been going for quite some time now. I am selling the boat and the prospective buyer pointed out the volt meter issue to me when we were taking it for a spin.
