I few months ago I purchased a 1970 Correct Craft Skier that was in rough but not awful shape. I've been fixing it up since then but I thought I would share some pictures of the process. When I bought the boat it was mostly original aside from a new floor, new seats and a few other small things. Below are a few pictures of the boat just before I bought it.

The initial tear down. I removed everything down to the stringers to see if what I bought was worth the price. Good news! Stringers seem to be in decent shape throughout the boat.

Welcome, you have a great looking project there. You have come to the correct place to gather some info on the restoration. Does the straight six still run well?

Donald, I test drove the boat before I bought it, it runs like a charm. Started up first try. Its almost all original aside from the re-manufactured carb, alternator and distributor

I've been looking around the site for other boats with the same engine. Does a top speed of around 40-43 sound about right for this boat? I was driving the other day next to our Mastercraft which was doing 36-37 but my speedo said I was only going 29 so it sounds like my speedo isn't very accurate, also the speedo only goes to 36. I was afraid to go full throttle because my control cables are shot. New ones come tomorrow along with new mounting brackets.

Took apart the controls yesterday to repaint. I used one of those special wire brushes that you can put on an impact driver to scuff it, but I got a little carried away and took all the old paint off.
Today I went to reassemble it all thinking it would take 5 minutes... I spent an hour and fifteen minutes trying to get the little ball and spring back together.

Does it look like I assembled it right? Not sure how to use the adjustments on the one cam.

Got the controls and new control cables all installed and adjusted.

I then buffed out the whole boat with rubbing compound and a wheel. Had to wet sand from the water line down because the fade didn't come out with the buff. Then I buffed it again.

Great job on the buffing Andrew! You're off to a good start. What all do you plan to work on?

Boats all finished and in the water! Clocked it at 39 with the GPS on my phone. not sure how accurate it is though.
The boat is currently for sale if anyone is interested!
