LOOKING FOR THE MOUNTING   L BRACKETS THAT HOLD THE GAS TANK TO THE STRINGERS   1983 2001 SN.    MY STRINGER MAN HAS LOST THEM     I HAVE THE STRAPS     THANKS

Sounds like you found the straps and now need the brackets? They are typically blocks of wood just to keep the tank from sliding laterally.

How about posting some pictures of the stringer job. It's always great for reference especially since we lost so many when Photobucket got greedy.

Pete, you may be thinking of an older style of tank mounting system. At some point in the 80’s, cc went to angled aluminum brackets that the tank sat on and aluminum straps with threaded ends that go up and over the tank. A bit nicer than the wood strips and blocks used through the 70’s.
