Your particular engine would have come with a Prestolite electronic distributor.with a screwdown cap.

PCM part numbers are

Cap RA108003

Rotor R103004

Here's a link to one place, you can find the parts on the linked page

You'll spend about 40 bucks before shipping

link

Or you could go here

link

One place is a little more expensive than the other

Or you could use the PCM part numbers to find other companies replacements or hunt around on EBAY

Still Cantankerous to start...Once warm it runs fine...I am one of those people that has to have everything running and looking great or I cant rest! I don't think it has been changed in 19 years so figured I would get the parts together for the spring tune up!

I am sure the plugs are original too...my cousin who has a 1998 says he has never changed any of those items since he bought it new...

What say you about changing the plugs, cap, and rotor just for good measure?

I am getting 45.7 MPH at 4400 Rpm Wide open with the Acme 422 prop so I think it is running pretty good...what say you?

How is the base timing at idle? My old MC was a bear to start but otherwise ran OK. The "light" advance spring was broken and that weight was always hanging out!

Additionally may want to bypass the electric choke.
