John,
Yes, I'd say it can be repaired but you would be better off looking at a replacement. The CNC machined Acme's are the way to go for both performance and even price. |

I just sold one last Saturday in good shape for $100. There are more out there.
I like the new Acme and that is what I now run but they are $400 new. |

It should but details would really help. What prop are you discussing. 13x13, 13x14?

If its a Federal, no it cannot. I've had 2 Federals rebuilt this year and each one, while looking like new, ran like POS.

John, Do check with your local prop shop. I've seen way worse repaired but, as mentioned, it may not be worth the cost of the repair. Also, do understand that prop shops by Bruce in the northeast, don't know how to repair props! ![]() |

That looks like an old Michigan, even worse.
An 30yo federal would be an upgrade |

Delta repaired the 2 Federals I sent out. One was a slightly dinged up 13" that went on an '84 SN that ran about 40 mph WOT. It was horrible. The other was a slightly dinged up 12"x14" that went on a 351 Tique. It was worse than horrible. I think it ran 43 and made an unbelievable amount of noise. I don't think Delta was at fault as we've had them do a number of props that worked out fine. I think if you have a Federal or I guess Michigan and it needs a refinish, just buy a new prop.

I thought that boat “ran great” Bruce?
![]() A polished turd is still a turd. You’d be better off finding a non-damaged used federal/MW for $50-75 if you don’t want to spend the $345 on a new Acme. Either way that prop belongs on the mantle. |

Which boat? The '84 ran decent, but I didn't realize it was only putting out 40 mph. I thought you guys were arguing about 43 mph versus 45 mph, which wouldn't have been bad, but 40 was unacceptable.
There was no question about the Tique prop. It was embarrassing even when in the boat by myself. |

I had my Acme repaired once and it ran very nice. Had to do it again, same shop did the repair, charged me $260 and although it ran smooth I lost 3 MPH. I guess all rebuilds or repairs are not the same. I ended up buying a new prop. Very happy with it.

The 3 blade one above has Perryman and Federal on it. I'll have to take thwe 4 blade off to see the size.

John, I suspect the "Perryman" stamped in the prop is from a previous owner. It's common to stamp the name in a prop for identification. What size is it? We could help more if you find out what size it is. Also for reference, what's the full speed RPM of the engine with that prop. |

13x13 and this is off the 83 I'm in the process of redoing. I never had it in the water so not sure how it does.

John, I totally agree with Gary and as I said before:
Also, I do recommend the Acme 540 Acme 540 You will note that the 540 has a 12" pitch BUT, with the large surface area of a CNC machined prop, it performs better than a hand worked old cast prop like yours with a 13" pitch. |
