Hey everyone. I’m in dire need for some helpful advice regarding my 1986 Martinique.

The past two summers it has barely ran. I’m dealing with fuel and electrical issues.
I think installing an electronic fuel system will help my fuel issues. Has anyone done this before?

Welcome to the forum!

There's guys on here that know a lot more then me about it but if you dealing with electrical and fuel issues, I really think adding EFI is going to add to your issues. Why not rebuild the carb or even put on a new carb? If you tune the carb correctly it'll run nearly as good as EFI. Also, what kind of electrical issues are you dealing with?

That topic has been presented lots of times to which the answer is always fix your current problems. A properly functioning ignition system and carburetor on an engine in good health will run very much like EFI save a few pumps when cold or an occasional missed hot key start on super hot summer days.

Elaborate on your issues.

Drew,
Welcome to CCfan. How about posting some pictures. We'd love to see the Wildcat.

I agree with the others. If you can't get it to run now, what makes you think throwing a EFI on will make it run? There are thousands of marinized 351's out there that run fantastic. Tell us what problems you are having and we'll see if we can help. The members here have helped many. The alternate is getting a mechanic to take a look.

Umm Pete..................he has an 86 Martinique so your Wildcat pictures will have to come from elsewhere

And Drew, you probably meant to say 351W, if you think it's a C, take a picture of it and post it here. You could count the bolts holding the valve covers on as a quick easy check.
6 bolts per cover on a 351W compared to 8 bolts per cover on a 351C.

Also Drew, here's a link to a recent thread where somebody had the same question. That thread has a link to a place with a marine fuel injection setup for a 351W.

I won't try to convince you of anything, just giving you some reading.

link

You could also Google        "correctcraftfan fuel injection" and come up with a bunch of reading

Thanks for all the reply’s!
I had the carb rebuilt this summer but It is still flooding and backfiring. Would this be a tuning issue?

It is a Ford 351 from pleasure craft marine.

I took care of the wildcat picture for ya'

Drew if you read the linked thread in my previous post you'll see plenty of info on things like a dirty fuel system upstream of the carburetor.

A rebuild can get screwed up in no time at all from junk in the system and a fuel injection setup can get equally screwed up

Thanks for the advice and the link.
I will be investigating into my fuel issues from a different point of view!

Give me some time on the pictures, just got a new phone and lost photos.

That means it's a 351W

Like a couple of people have mentioned, you'll probably get plenty of help from the forum.with a good detailed description of the issue(s)
