Going to make a Green Egg stand. The thought process is to hack off the transom of a 1977 Ski Tique, put it on casters, redo graphics, and put in the egg. It started this weekend. Used a large multipurpose blade to make a rough cut to get the transom off. I'll make a cleaner straight cut later and take an inch or two off. Also cut out the round cut using a hard tile diamond blade on a jig saw. What a clean cut. The rest of the hull is up for grabs or it is headed to the dump.
Boat was in rough shape, had many repairs including replacement of secondaries. Also, the hull had been patched in many places. Perfect for a project. Torching out the lifting ring tab: Crosscut to see the repair/replacement of the secondary with a 2x4. Update: Pics were lost due to site hack. Updating with some of the original pics and just putting them all on this first post: |

Have done some more work on the project. Casters, vent door, prop and rudder.
Added some large casters for height: Cut out a vent door which I plan to put back on with hinges: Cut an old broken prop and rudder and worked on how to mount them (drilled and tapped the rudder): Next up, paint the graphics. |

Slow going but still moving along. Put some hinges on the vent door and painted the graphics. Hinges were a trick with the curve of the transom...had to shim out a bit with some washers so they wouldn't bind.
Next up, buff, CC emblems (or part there of), stickers, and work surface for grilling. Getting closer. |

About to be time to need this thing at the lake. Made some more progress over the past few weeks. Shaped some "shelves" for the top. First pic shows the design from the top. I had not trimmed the middle for where the egg handle will be in that first pic. Still need to route the edges and mount them on the top of the transom.
Was tough to get a level surface to work on it in my garage bc I have a center drain. Going to do the finishing touches on the level deck. Put the hardware back on. Had to cut a small piece of sheet metal to go over the pitot tube hole. I didn't have an extra cover. Put stickers and emblems (partial) on both sides. Next will be mounting the shelves and routing the edges, putting the prop and rudder on and finally putting the egg in to see if it fits |

Now, the next step I want to see is some food cooking.
David, Have you had much experience with the Egg and if so, how well does it work? |

Pete. They cook really well. I have had one for over 10 years and have not been disappointed yet!
The stand that David is making will make it cook even better! Nice work and and a great idea. |

Egg cooks great. I have had it for 1.5 years so I am somewhat a novice but have had good experiences on all cooks so far. Looking forward to some low and slow butts and briskets this summer!

Finished the Big Green Egg Stand. Mounted the shelves solid next to the egg with some lag screws. Used bolts for leveling on the sides of each shelf. Getting the shelves level (or close to) with the complex curves of the top of the transom was the toughest part. Also mounted the underwater gear. I am happy with the outcome. We gave it a whirl with some flank steaks this weekend and they were delicious!

Great news...the front end of the 77 Tique was picked up yesterday by Wake the World NC to hopefully be used in another project(s). Can't wait to see what they do with it.
