Looks like Jeff dumped the "old School" forum for boats "older than 1989

Didnt get much traffic and the response to questions was always, go check over at CCFan. Guess folks figured that out for themselves.

Larry,
There are certainly times when we will suggest visiting PN when "new school" questions come up here. However, it does bother me that he just dumped the section. How much space could it take up on the PN site? Not much so I get the feeling he doesn't think very highly of the beginning years of Nautique. Oops, I should have said Correct Craft! Have a nice day Jeff.

I don't spend much time there anymore as my new [08] boat gets older it doesn't get many related posts . Reading about 200k new boats doesn't interest me at all . My latest new boat is a 67. I guess I found a home here.

I mean, most 200K boat owners aren't your typical "enthusiasts." While some may enjoy the "sport" it's all about status symbols now baby.

We checked out the Indianapolis boat show and good lord the G series Nautiques look small now compared to most other v drive offerings. Rumor is the Malibu dealer sold one of their large barges for 305K that weekend.

Well let's see, it had been months since there was a new post in that section and most every thread had somebody saying "go to CCF for some help" so why would he keep that section.

If somebody has an older CC quuestion, they'll be redirected to CCF pretty quickly.

When Jeff is looking for help on his older projects, he comes to CCF

I seem to remember a late 80's 454 Martinique and a late 90's SN. so I'm not sure where your "feelings" are coming from Pete.

He pulled it because there wasn’t any Pete and Ken head butting going on with an occasional Left field Rosco statement. The entertainment is here.

And there’s nothing wrong with modern Correct Craft just as long as they’re Ski Nautique’s.

Pretty sure we all here on this website share one thing in common, "The love of boats" !!
My son owns a new one, and guess what, it still floats just like our older ones. The biggest difference between mine and his is I paid cash for my '93 SN, and he'll be paying for his for years

Despite not subscribing to it, I certainly understand how status is a big motivator for people. Even when it is transparent. A young engineer I work with drives a BMW. Not that I earn a lot, but clearly I earn more than her. Why does she need a BMW? My crappy toyota corolla gets me to work and back just as well as her BMW does her.

Anyway, that is a lot to spend on a boat for status vs function. Since surfing is little more than "stand up tubing" just go back to tubing, buy a nice, but modest pontoon boat, for a quarter the price and twice the function of your $150 wake barge, More seating, more storage space, more room to move around, nice stereo, chug arond teh lake at 10 mph pulling your tuber. They can even hold up their can of beer while tubing like that awesome trick that the surfers master.

I can appreciate that Zach. Much like the well north of 100 tries I had in getting somewhat consistent with long line back deeps, I'm sure it took unparalleled amounts of patience and persistence.

I thought that was a cool trick? Should this guy be in the witness protection program?

I believe Jeff still has a Fish Nautique which keeps him in the realm of old school.

Had to laugh Larry. I bet Eddie wishes that it only took me a hundred or so tries! He was the one with the patience and persistence.

How is the leg doing BTW?

Left Field ? I'm Righty!!!!!

I would say seems like the majority of dealers focus is now on new boats and anything EFI and up, most of them seem to care less and less about selling parts and service. I mean their is no money or margin in that right???? I guess we could infer that Correct Craft or Nautique doesn't really think their interest to keep anything old on there from that removal action.

BTW he had that Fish Nautique for sale a few times already, maybe its the volvo engine ....

Maybe under Old School PN ought to just refer people to their Friends Over at CCF.

Larry, at the Boston Boat Show this year I thought 2 nicest boats in the show were a toss up between the new SN and the GS 20. The GS 20 is a really nice boat. It's not just Nautiques that are expensive. Ever boat in that building exceeded my guesstemate in price. They're all expensive.
