If I'm going to replace the floor since the stringers are bad do I need to grind off the floor? Or just cut them out with the glass still on them?

Andrew,
Have you looked at any of the great stringer threads linked in the FAQ thread? Pictures too! Besides the stringer threads, lots of great info. I feel most find that a cheap diamond wheel in a right angle grinder works wonders on the glass.

Are the floors screwed into the stringers? Do I need to locate the screws to pull up the floors?

You're doing stringers so just start cutting.

Ok. So I cut a section and just pull it up? Seams like they would have screwed the floors to the stringers

If noone has messed with the boat previously it has stringers, then a few boards nailed to the top of the stringers running perpendicular to them in the back 2/3rds of the boat. In the front under the seats there are multiple boards nailed to the top of the stringers – then the whole thing was foamed. The majority of the boat the floor you see is fiberglass directly over the floor – where there was wood nailed to the stringers it is fiberglass over that wood. To replace all the stringers you would need to remove, the glass, the wood, and the foam in that order before you could cut out the stringers.

So the fiberglass is over the foam and no wood in between but some wood on top of the stringers

Much of the floor will be ply with a layer of glass over it. In some places there may just be glass. We took an angle grinder with a cutting wheel and went all the way around the perimeter to start. Used the grinder as a guide to keep us a couple inches off the side as not to nick that glass. Then started ripping up.

Other than cutting through the hull you can do much wrong in taking it all out. We likes a flap disk with 36 grit for grinding.
