Engine cranks but cuts off after 2 or 3 seconds. It runs as long as I hold starter.
I bypassed the safety switch. It is good. I sprayed starter fluid into throttle body. Engine still cut off. Put in new plugs. I never hear the fuel pump before starting. Should I hear it? I disconnected the oil pressure sensing unit. Didn't make any difference. There is an extra wire on the oil pressure sensing unit. Is it a backup for low oil pressure? Should I check the pressure on the fuel injection rail? Thanks Rob |

I had the same issue and it was a lose wire on the ignition kill switch. I Put a new Switch on to begin with but as I was installing it I notice that as I was messing with the wires, the fuel pump would run. If I squeezed the wire it would run again to I replaced the connectors and it’s fine. Do you have a key ignition or push button ? Something is causing the pumps not to run. I would revisit the kill switch. |

How did you bypass it and did you check it with the VOM for continuity? |

I’m guessing he removed the switch and tied the 2 wires together. That should have cut the fuel pumps on I think.

Yes you should hear the pumps prime the rail.
Put a pressure gauge on it then get back with the results. |

Run over and look at my fuel pressure tests. Let me know what you think. |

2005 and gt40 don't exactly belong in the same sentence .
From your old posts it looks like a 2000 model year boat and it must have a replacement engine that was put in maybe in 2005? There were no model year 2005 gt40 engines, they'd gone the way of the dinosaur by then. How about some more info and maybe the numbers on the engine ID tag to be sure you're gonna get some good advice. |

Clarification to engine. I have a PCM 5.8 HO model PLPPOOOM Mfg date 08-05. It is a replacement engine for my 2000PAN. I have push button ignition.
Thanks |

Problem solved. A tripped ignition run breaker. Thanks for all your help. It's been a good learning experience for me.

Glad it's running. Since they usually trip for a reason, did you find the reason? That ID tag is still a mystery. Could you post a picture of it? |

I made a pic. I'll upload as soon as I figure out how to do it.
