While going through the restoration, I am now starting to focus on finishes of the boat and realized that the gelcoat on the dash is porous / has small cracks in it. I have sanded the dash down to see if I can get below the imperfections but I think by the time I get down below them I will have some fiberglass showing through and will need to re-gel the dash. I am already re-gelling the rest of the hull so I am not concerned with needing to do this, but I figured I would see if anyone has any tips on how to go about gel coating two different colors right next to each other while keeping the transition smooth. Should I re-gel the hull, tape off the line and re-gel the dash and then block sand everything down at once?
Anyone who has done this before and has tips for it would be appreciated! |
