Does anyone know what the thread/nut size is for the steering cable nut on a standard steering cable.

I have replaced the cable on a 67 riviera, but the mounting shaft on the prop end of the cable is hard mounting on the oem cable:

The new cable has a nut that attaches to the mounting shaft.

I can thread either the existing pipe after I cut if off, or a new one, but I need to know the the thread pitch and the nut size.

Alternatively, is the mounting pipe purchaseable?

Thanks
Chris

You can buy one

Click on the link below for lots of choices and different lengths

Most of them are 7/8 inch OD tubes and you'll need to have an idea what you need for length based on the travel of the steering cable you have. Travel of the cable doesn't equal the length of the tube either.

Just for example a cable with 8 1/2 inches travel could take an 11 inch tube.

Inboard and outboard and IO's use the same diameter too so you might end up with an outboard steering tube for example.
