I am getting ready to tackle the floor in my 98 Sport. I am converting from carpet to SeaDek like some others have done. It has been suggested in other threads to use black gelcoat as to hide any imperfections and create a more seamless look with the black/brown teak style SeaDek. It would also mask any spider cracks that may appear in gel. I like this idea. However, my one concern that is holding me back is the oxidation of black gelcoat. Since the SeaDek will be so close, I won't be able to easily buff any chalkiness out as it develops. Is there a good way to prevent it oxidizing? Do I have a valid concern here?

Would love you guys input!

Black amplifies all the defects makes them stand out, your work has to be perfect.White hides anything wrong. There is a reason why early production Corvettes only came in one color- white.

If you gel over a crack it will just show through the new gel. you must grind out the crack fill with Total Boat THIXO
