I have a 2016 Super Air 230 with the PCM 450 and wondering how to winterize? it is going into heated storage but I would like to still do a proper winterize. I would appreciate any help.

I am not familiar with your particular engine. Click on the reference tab up top and maybe you will find a manual for your engine that will tell you what too do.
I have a Ford GT 40 351 and I do the following: Drain water from block. There are 1/4" or so plugs on each side of the block. Remove those to remove water from the block. Go to use a metal wire like a coat hanger to remove old rust that could stop the water from coming out. Drain each manifold. Three are 3/4" or so plugs in the back of these where the exhaust hose attached. Use the end of a large ratchet, with no socket to remove. Drain Strainer: Remove water strainer and dump water. Disconnect the hose to the transmission cooler. Do not attempt to remove the brass plugs that are in the cooler itself. They will crack the cooler. I try to raise hose slightly to remove the water. Change Oil, best to change oil before layup to remove tans and acids. Some will argue do it in the spring. I do it in the fall. Pump out trans fluid and replace. Harbor Freight ( Sorry Pete) pump or Northern Tool has them. Try to burn out as much gas as possible before layup. Add stabilizer to the remaining. I top off with fresh in the spring. Some years, I remove the impeller and store it in a zip lock bag. I use to blow air down the speedo tubes to remove water. A newer boat likely does not use this type of speedo. In the south I do not add antifreeze. If I was in the North I would replace all the plugs and fill the engine with RV Antifreeze. There is a big debate about using the pour or suck method to get the antifreeze in the engine. So will say no water in engine not need to use antifreeze other than to spot rust from building up. Use the search function and you will find a ton of threads on how to do this. We lost many of the photos when the Russians Hacked the site a while back. Congrats on being the first Winterizing Thread I have seen for 2021. This makes me sad. |
