Tim and I were discussing the PCM, 351 engine. In the PCM manual, it's rated at 240 H.P. In the PCM service manual, it's rated at 255 H.P. Can anyone explain this?

From what I've seen usually for the older boats it was 240 then it went to 260. Interesting thou maybe it's a typo, hell who cares just change the cam or heads and all that goes out the window anyway.

The code on the id tag on my 81 shows that it should have 255 hp. I have no idea why they are different from the 240hp models, I guess you could shoot PCM an email and ask if there really was a difference.

One reason this makes a difference is in insurance price...am I right? I think a lot of companies rate price based at least somewhat on hp.

It's another one of those things that should be answerable here. Let us know if you find out.

Ya, I remember when I got my first Nautique. I got a quote from my auto insurance guy. He's like "a 20 foot boat with 240HP?!?!" Let's just say I saved myself about 800/yr by going with a ski boat insurance company.
