I have a 64 skier with what I believe is a 260 ford in it. I cant get it to go over 2000 rpm at full throttle. I know I should do away with the points but I just got it and want to run it the way it is for this summer. I was just wondering if you knew what the dwell should be set too and what the timing should be set too. Also if you have any other ideas of what it could be let me know. Nothing seems to be clogged (filters or vents)

make sure the boat is propped correctly first,
do you have any misses? or does the engine sound loaded?
