My throttle will not stay in position, I have to hold it there or it will creep back to idle. Is there a way to tighten this up? Thanks

89, I seem to remember this coming up before. Do a search for the topic. I also think it turned out to be a safety feature that was added on later boats.

Can be a sign of a worn out cable. Has the cable been bent?

Would you consider using something like this?

Cable Brake

Manufactured By: Morse Controls (Teleflex/Morse)

Item Number: MOR 44386

Do a search on 'Morse Cable Brake #MOR 44386'

no get a new cable or check the return spring on the carb to see if someone has but a heavy spring on it.

Nut on the back of the morse control, tighten it up a bit.

Cable age has nothing to do with throttle creep.

I just took apart a couple of remote controls and noticed a couple of adjustments and one said "friction" on it, so i know there may be adjustments in the controller if you remove the cover
