My experience with that type of trailer is has not been good. Very unstable and with the extra height of that boat it would be multiplied.
They certainly have their place i.e. placing the boat for winter storage and such. Most around here that actually trailer a pontoon have the type with bunks under each pontoon. Personal preference of course and maybe the newer cantilever types are more stable. |

Probably why they are selling it. No AC and too hot for Havasu basically anytime of the year. If the sun is out you wouldn't be able to use it. I've seen a couple of similar style small enclosed houseboats for sale in Havasu recently. I think people are moving there and bringing them from other parts of the country and quickly finding out it's really flipping hot there!

What are you seeing with the trailer? Isn't that the usual type of pontoon trailer? |

The cantilever trailer would be an interesting pull for even the shortest trips. I dont think I would venture much past my very short driveway! Yes that tread plate would get a bit warm in the sun. I would love to try it for week on Havasu though!

I like it! .... But down here in the south you would have to measure the temperature of that diamond plate in the sun on the Kelvin scale.

Interesting build. For short money you could do a floating fishing trip, but the living space is tiny. The interior pictures don't really show where you sleep, is there a head? I suppose for a solo trip it could provide easy weatherproof shelter but seems very limited.

But all that anniversary talk is right out of the 2001 brochure from the CC marketing department Here's a link Like 63 skier said, it sounds to me like a decently maintained boat at a decent uninflated price.

Wow, great price. Had I not just bought, I'd have seriously considered. Nice to see pricing coming back. I've not see that color combination before. Interesting...has the PP servo controller, but no display...

Hey gang, this just popped up on the Classic Correct Crafts FB site. The boat is FREE, so disregard the pricing in the CL ad. |

Mark, thanks for the details, I enjoyed the writeup. No question about the LS being superior in a modern sort of way, but that doesn't make the old iron any less interesting.

So getting back to our regularly scheduled programming, the Cobalt in the Craigslist ad has a regular production Mercruiser Black Scorpion 6.2
Time to move on to the next CL ad

I have to offer a correction, I had a brain fart I guess. The 377 was actually the 4.125 bore with a "350" 3.48" crankshaft not the 3.25" stroke 327 crank. My mistake, we made special spacer bearings back in the 1980's that allowed use of the 350 crank in the larger 400 block and a lot of race teams used that combo. Demand dropped off in the late 90's so this bearing was obsoleted. Clevite kept making it a little longer. I think today King Bearing is the only source for the 377 bearings.
The combo that ran the 4.125 bore 400 block with the 327 3.25 crank only made 350 cubic inches but the cool thing about this combo was the larger bore helped the heads flow better and this combo made more horsepower by a fair amount than the 350 4" bore x 3.48" stroke engine ever did. Many said it was the 350 GM should have produced. This combo could spin 7000 RPM quickly and pretty reliably with the very short stroke. I will go back up and edit the note so the crank size is correct regarding the 377. Both the modified 350 and the 377 were obsoleted when aftermarket heads came out and allowed the big bore 4.125" 400 blocks to start making huge power in stock configurations, longer rods were installed, 5.7 or 6" which takes internal stress out of the block webb and makes the 400 able to run high RPM like the 327 used to. The LS blocks obsoleted all the old school blocks by doing all of the above tricks better and offering more reliability even at higher power levels. Technology keeps moving us along.

Just get a python and be done with this conversation! :-) there is no substitution for cubic inches, right?
