Doesn't look cherry by any means, but not terrible either. Nice price and from description, seller sounds like a straight shooter:

Great, I'll check to see if it's still for sale (I bet it is!), then will call you to set up a time.

Have fun in N. Conway, make sure to go to Horsefeathers and order the Chicken Coop Soup!

There were several HP options available.
239 CI= 125 hp
256 CI= 135 hp
256 CI= 165/170 hp
272 CI= 185 hp
292 CI= 215 HP

All used the same casting #'s.........Billy
312 CI

Billy your right on early blocks up to 61/62 then it became more standard....

The following blocks have never been seen as a 312: EBU, EBY, EBV, ECG, ECK, ECL.

Its only the C2AE-C that can catch you out as it was used as 312 only on replacement blocks.

Don't try and eye ball the cast number it is a pain to see....take some white paper slip a strip above the oil filter can and rub with your finger over the paper
Lets have a go

Did you hook them up?
For thousands of years men have felt the irresistible urge to go to sea, and many of them died. Things got better after they invented boats.

There's a guy who lists tons of boats on CL with that exact format. Little to no description and one picture. I flag them all and send a heartwarming e-mail every time.

That '87 has scam written all over it. Same ad layout as that 1st Gen sport with the monster tower that has been appearing all over the place.

Billy,
I think you did a "typo" here. The 312 is the 215 HP.

Roger, I am by no means an expert on the Y block nor its ID tips, but I was told , there is only two ways to determine a 312 from all the rest. The asprin sized dot on the crankshaft flange or a bore of 3.80x3.44 stroke..Casting #'s are not proof.
There were several HP options available.
239 CI= 125 hp
256 CI= 135 hp
256 CI= 165/170 hp
272 CI= 185 hp
292 CI= 215 HP

All used the same casting #'s.........Billy

Peter, are you able to look during the day? If so let's see if we can take a look together later in the week (I can't do evenings). Maybe talk the guy into a ride, I'll tow and pay for gas!

Look at the block cast number above the oil filter,

61 On C1AE-R = 292     190hp
62 On C2AE-C = 292     190hp
62 On B7ME   = 312     215hp
this may help.
