1999 Ski Nautique Python

FYI.... I looked at this boat earlier in the summer. If you are in the market for a python... This one is mint.

That's price is high for a 99. Do the pythons command that kind of premium. Im not judging, Im asking.

Before I bought my '99 I debated the GT40 vs 502 Python. The GT40 is strong and nimble. I believe it's approximately 250 lbs lighter than the Python. I've never skied the TSC hull with the Python but adding 250~ in my opinion will affect the wake.....and cost more to keep fuel in the tank. No doubt the Python has a cool factor, but definitely not necessary to pull slalom skiers. Somebody else will need to speak about the value, but I believe it was quite a bit more expensive than the GT40. I heard to Pythons like to consume oil too. None of this would deter me from owning that beautiful red one in MI! Ken

I need it for footing also. Wonder if its good enough to slalom so you could also foot.

My understanding is the Python SN will top out at 50+ MPH. My '99 with GT40 will top out at 45mph. That's plenty of speed for footing. The question becomes how many footers at once, size of footers and skill level. Of course the Python would be the best choice if you're needing to foot 45mph or more. 38mph is just the right speed for me footing. Ken

Yeah Im at 5280' so the gt40 sn we ski behind tops at 39. It does have a 4 blade so you may get a tad more out of it with a different prop but the elevation kills us

I started looking into the pythons a while ago and talked to a guy that had one. He didn't have a comparison for the wakes but he did say it was noticeably louder and had a lot of vibration compared to the GT40.

He seemed happy with his boat and the performance speakers for itself. He didn't have GPS top speed but estimated 60mph (right )

Paul -- I have the python. I love it.
last year, Tim and I raced it against the crush. holeshot win, python. top end, equal. I'm not sure what I was hitting in that run, but I can do 53.5 on any given day, 54.5 under the right conditions. Tim and I tested a few props, with the main result being that all the props that we tested didn't seem to have a huge impact in speed, or holeshot, but we didn't accurately test holeshot.

Oil: it burns roughly 1 qt every 10 hours by the book, so I just get in the habit of checking it every so often, and keeping some extra on hand.

Wake: It has the TSC1, but with a few hundred pounds extra in the middle, the wake is a little bigger; Unless you're a world class skier, I don't think you'd notice too much.

I have heard they were either a 6k or 10k option from the factory (but I think the 6k figure is accurate)

The "vibration" is due to the dual exhaust. It does erode the platform brackets though (no known fix)

If I were in the market, I don't think that 18,900 is too far out of line.

The fix is removing a few platform slats (like the 80s platforms) so the exhaust can escape.

Big block vs removable brackets vs solid platform it's clear who the loser is.

Depends on how you calculate it, Base price on the Closed Bow SN was about 22k, that included base motor - carbed 351- 260hp, from there the GT-40 was about another 4k, Python was about +6k from the GT-40

22k - 260hp 351
26k - 310hp GT-40
32k - 430hp Python

So apparently the stringers have been done and it needs floors and to be re-assembled.
I am going to try and look at this before the CT mini its a solid 2.5hr drive from me. It does not have title, Maine doesn't require titles to register. but I think an old reg works for registering in MA.

Am I crazy for considering this? I'm still kind of new to the CCs and what they are worth but this seems like a great deal to me. The kicker for me is It would 100% eat up my funds for my BFN floor re-hab i wanted to this winter.
