Wow, it's even got a built in air compressor for the tubers!!

There’s been times I’d like an air compressor. Ever have a low tire on the road way?

Todd,
What if you aren't towing the boat? You're better off getting a jump box with a built in compressor.

Then, you can also fill your tubes without the boat!

Looks sweet, but well over priced. I’d pay $18K for an all original SN 2001 with 1 hour on the meter. $25k would be well spent on a ‘05-‘06 196.

But Ken, a SN is not a Cobalt! have you ever looked at Cobalts and their prices?

Gary,
Are you saying you change the air in your tires after X amount of miles like oil? Maybe regular air but my tires are filled with full synthetic Amsoil air!!

Cobalt looks like Ski Ray really with slightly different cap. Cobalt is like 89 octane of the boat world. Somebody that should have bought a Regal or a Chris Craft.

I'll be passing through the Orlando area 6 times this season Pete. I always stop and fill up a portable air tank and use only genuine Correct Craft air. Keeping it original!

If I am not mistaken, Cobalt purchased Hydrodyne and I suspect this is the Cobalt take on the Grandsport

I’ve seen a SkiRay for sale once. I thought it was a very nice boat with the integrated swim platform and Mercruiser drivetrain. No idea how it skis and such. Anybody ever ski behind one?

I purchased a 1993 SkiRay, the 17 foot model. It had a Mercruiser 260 hp engine with a 1:1 transmission. It had tremendous hole shot, even beat Power Slot MC's on hole shot. The wakes were small but firm. Always was reliable, sold it in 97 and bought a 1997 SN w GT-40. WS like I won the lottery I was so happy with that boat.

Todd,
Looks like a 4 to me plus I left out the X for non corrosive. A 4 does not need to be hinged nor have channels to direct water. It's gasketed for full the washdown rating.

I drove and skied behind one of these quite a bit back in 2004-2005. I remember it feeling cheap. some details not well done, like the gunwales being rounded- not good for stepping on them with wet feet. But yeah, great hole shot, nice small wake for slalom. Pretty sure the same person I skied with then still owns the boat now.

My biggest complaint was the fuel capacity. Using the boat for anything but skiing you'd go through a tank of gas in no time. Probably helped keep the weight down, thus the wake down, but man, it was a fill-every-time kind of boat. In fact I once "opened" a marina for gas before they were really open, because this boat was out of gas like always, and the lake was flat at 7:00am so we couldn't wait... that was a good one (don't worry, we paid for the gas).

That tower looks sharp on that boat but could never bring myself to put one on mine . Fewer and fewer originals out there .
Feels like I am hanging 10 but in reality - probably hanging 6.

The story goes something like this.
Sail and Ski uses boat for service boat for several years.
Something puts boat out of commission around 2k in hours and get sit aside till someone can fix it.
No one fixes it for 3+ years and during time parts get scavenged.
Sail and Ski finally get tired of run down boat sitting in yard.
S&S take boat to Captain Macs
Current owner picks it up from Cap'n for a project?
Too big of a project lists on CL.
