several use a dripless seal, but now with the new style packing flax it's really not needed as you can get an almost dripless seal with the new stuff and you don't have to run the cooling line.

150-200 bucks verses 5 what are you going to choose?
How hard is it to tighten a nut and a jam nut? not very hard at all. The easy way is to lift the rear panel in the floor then you have plenty of room to work on it. |

yes and I spent 350.00 for that and the prop. Also I was not aware of the teflon packing flax at the time either otherwise I would have went that route Timmy. |

I hear that the teflon packing works well, but I've been running the original packing in my '88 and have never even adjusted it. It's moored all summer, so maybe that extends its life, but I've never seen the packing on these little inboards as much of a maintenance issue. Dripless seems like a WOM.

I'll be doing a full review of the XPC dripless system this spring on my site.

Hopefully he has someone else install the dripless. If he can't get the regular packing right, then he would probably screw up the dripless too! |
