I did find a little more info that makes better sense. The cam gear is NOT reversed rotation but the cam is ground to accomodate reversed firing. What makes this motor reverse rotation is the firing order. Standard firing order on a Chevy 305, 350, and 454 is 18436572 but on the PCM Chevy motors the firing order is reversed starting after 1 then 2756348. This all came about because I ordered a Pertronix Electronic Ignition and I told them that I needed a reverse rotation distributor because I had a reverse rotation motor. When I tried to stab the new distributor after bringing the motor up to TDC on 1 it wouldn't stab. When I compared the two distibutor gears they were opposite of each other. The bottom line is if you order an electronic ignition don't tell Pertronix it is a reverse rotation motor because they are interpreting that as a reversed cam gear. It is not! Lol

What did you do to fix it, use the gear from your old dizzy?

I did try using the old gear but it was too small to fit on the shaft of the new Pertronix Distributor. I'm sure I can buy the gear from Pertronix and just switch 'em out.

Why not send it back, and get the correct rotation distributor?

No need to go to the additional expense of shiping and restocking fee. Pertonix sent me the right gear to swap it out!
