does anyone know what the function is of the spring that connects between the trottle arm and engine? also where it hooks onto on the trottle arm?
putting my carb back on and cant remember where the spring goes! also cant see what function it serves as the throttle springs back by itself. is it just there to asist it or should it be pulling it in the opposite direction?

thanks, peter

It is there to assist throttle down. You never want a carb stuck in the "open" or WOT postion. Usually the spring(if it is a FORD engine) is bolted with the last(back of the engine) intake manifold bolt on the passenger side.

Peter,

This was a topic in an older post and with some debate...what purpose it served and if it was needed.

Some owners removed it because they felt the spring in the carb was plenty to return it closed...others thought it should stay to assist closing the throttle plate if a control cable broke...On 302 and 351 ford engines they usually hook to a bolt ...like Martini mentions.
