Hey guys i have a quick question. When I put our boat(88ski) in gear and the throttle "clicks" it seems like the boat isnt going into gear. If you give it more gas then it will engage and go forward. you can let off the gas for a slower idle once it engages ut seems to me like it wont catch and go in gear. I checked tranny fluid and everything is ok. I just want to catch something before it gets really bad. Thanks for any suggestions.

Sounds like your cables are not in sync.

How do you synchronize the cables optimally? I'm not suffering ill effects, but I think things could be better.

Put control in dead up neutral
disconnect trans cable
move arm on tranny till you feel indent
now adjust cable till it slips right on
tight backer nut and you got it

Good luck munday

That is only half the story. You must do the same with the throttle cable, BUT you MUST adjust the throttle cable with the throttle lever just IN GEAR. This method properly loads the spring at the throttle control.
