Can I replace a 351 Ford with a 460 Ford long block, (1986 ski Nautique)?

You need to check if the bell housing will fit and not hit the bilge.

no its a small block vs a big block just like chevy motors.
the 460 is 9" longer and 6" wider than a 351W |

Okey. I've seen HP up as high as 300 from 351W? How are they getting that kind of power? I'm at about 230...

it's mainly the cam, but there's a ton of stuff to you can do,
new cam align hone the bearing journals balance the crank up grade the heads up grade the dist up grade the ign coil re-curve the dist's mechanical advance up grade the exhaust manifolds aluminum intake re-jet the carb re-prop the boat know what the hell your doing I think that covers the bases. |

Thanks but I think I'd rather start with a 4 bolt Cleavland if I'm going to go through all that.

I think that a clevland would be a step backward. You will have trouble with exhaust manifolds there available but high $.As are all hp parts for clevland motors,i think you could biuld a nice windsor from scratch and leave your existing motor in boat till its ready and always have a spare.Jusr my .02 cents
Good luck Munday |
