I just purchased a 1970 Barracuda Friday and like most old boats the interior has been modified. Does anybody have a pic of the original seats for this model? Also, it looks like there are mounts for wing windows on the windshield but they are missing, are they available anywhere? What's the easiest way to post pics from an iPad as it is not bringing up my images from my photo album. It wants me to "take" a picture or add the web address for the images.......
Thanks! |

John,
First so we can get an idea of what you have in the 70, post some pictures. Next is take a look through the 70's era brochures in the reference section. There are a few pictures that will give you an idea of the interior of the Cuda's. Then there's the diaries section. Enter Barracuda and a year range of 69 to 71 and see what comes up. The 70 Cuda was offered in several forward seat types. Buckets, bench with a split in the middle and then a bench with a open area port side. Welcome to CCfan and we'll be waiting on those pictures. |

She has the original 318 with a four barrel carb. Boat was originally an olive green color but was previously painted its current red. No blisters, bubbles , cracks or major dings in the hull top or bottom. Needs cosmetics but runs real strong and seems solid. PO had the custom cover made a couple years ago. My plan is to enjoy it the rest of the season then put it in the garage this winter for a new paint job and interior overhaul.

some better pictures now that I have the boat in my possession. I assume most of the interior is not stock, could the seat brackets be originals? would the original dog house been plywood? Also, I dont have a hour meter on the boat...where would that have originally been located on the dash? As you can see the bottom is still the original green gel coat. Thanks |

While shooting new imron is fairly straight forward, have you considered stripping it all down and taking a look at the gelcoat?

Only problem with that you might find out the rest is green too
Something's up with the year and windshield combo too,68 and up did not use the vents. Possibly someone over the years switched them over, seat brackets look original, dash looks replaced maybe that's why no hour meter? Post the serial number someone might have something close and know what year it is,I'm guessing 69 possibly sold and titled in 70? Looks like a good usable boat, have fun! |

Serial # BARR20776
Seems like a solid boat, ran well on the test ride. My plan is to enjoy it the rest of the summer then put it in my shop for a bit of an overhaul over winter. Planning on new interior, paint (sorry not a big fan of the green), clean up the engine and some buff and polish of the metal pcs. Does anyone make a good period correct looking front seat or do most make from scratch? Anyone try the new teak looking vinyl flooring in one of these? Have to figure out some storage somewhere as well. PO says it has a spot for a ski pole under the rug, does anyone make a pole that works with these boats? I'm guessing originals are hard to find |

Do you mean B2077 ? Look in the diary section under say 69-70 and you'll see there are 2 different styles of seats. One version are just plywood bases which you could easily make yourself if someone could send you the dimensions. The other ones and my favorites are the fiberglass buckets. Very hard to find. One of the members here has made some but I understand are very labor intensive. As to pylons you'll have to keep an eye out for someone parting out a Barracuda, sometimes things turn up right away, other times it takes awhile.
