A friend of mine just bought a 91 Supra Comp with a 1.23 to 1 PCM trans. The previous owner said the trans is bad . He found a Supra forum member that has a used one for 700.00. Is that a good price? I know there are members that rebuild tyranny's. Can you give a ball park price on cost to rebuild this trans?

Sounds like $700 in the wrong direction without more information.

Drain and note condition of current fluid. Fill and test operation while asking po what exactly was symptoms of “bad”. There is another thread going right now about a BW in unknown condition. Could be a frozen cable with this amount of info. $700 worth a parts for the current trans is full rebuild territory.

Hunter,

Contact JoeinNY , he is the tyranny rebuild guy. At least one to one units. Reid P. has a friend, I believe his name is Andy. He hangs out at the Boys Boat Club and he is also a re builder. He was in the past and does then now more to keep his and I believe Reid's stuff going, or sitting.

If I remember right I think Eric used to say if you needed any parts that they were only available from PCM and priced accordingly. He had donor cores for parts that were crazy expensive. For instance on Skidim gaskets and clutch plates for a Borg Warner are 199.00, PCM's are 541..95

Petey,
Tyranny: cruel and oppressive government or rule. For the majority of y’all.
Tranny: the mechanism by which power is transmitted from an engine to the wheels of a motor vehicle. For the majority of y’all.

And for my guy Petey,
Transsexual: denoting or relating to a person whose sense of personal identity and gender does not correspond with their birth sex.

But O-76 what kind of guy is it that says something like this?

"Awesome!. Pink and white would’ve looked better though. My boat is purple (magenta) and honestly I only wear pink, purple and maybe blue. I’m a firm believer that 99% of all men are extremely hesitant to challenge another man in pink/purple for fear of getting “beat by the guy in pink”.

Can we call you "pretty in pink" ?

The things you say on other websites.

Does that include socks and undies too?

I'm more of a blue guy myself

What’s underwear?
I do wear pink yes I’ll admit. Purple is my main color, I use CF awareness as my legitimate excuse.

But I highly doubt my wardrobe has anything in rebuilding transmissions, tyrannical countries, or Pete’s heshe shims.

Michael, back to your more legit post, cost of rebuilding a Transmission , given a rebuild kit cost of almost $600, I’d say 600-700 for a used good 1.23 PCM is fair. Keep in mind a new 1.23 PCM, model 80? I think, is about $1800 plus installation. And I’m more inclined to trust a good used transmission than a questionable rebuild.

I think it's that long white stuff Pete mentioned the other day

He probably looks funny when he has shorts over the long johns.

Thanks Orlando 76 That is exactly what I was looking for. I guess I got a good deal on the 86 Supra 351w and 1.23 trans I am using for the Mustang build. I payed 400.00 for the whole boat with trailer. I sold the trailer to the guy that needs the trans for 400.00
