    Posted: August-10-2019 at 7:23pm
I have a 2002 Ski Nautique with a Ramlin Trailer that I purchased about three years ago. The bunks had been replaced with untreated wood and they used two pieces on each side and did not shape the bunk at all.
I had noticed the boat rocked back and forth going down the road and according to Ramlin there should be a two foot long wedge at the end on each side, mine were missing.
I started with 2x4 pressure treated 16 foot long fresh, green wet. Then measured 2 3/4 across the face and with the skill saw set at 45 degrees ripped the corner off the board length wise.
Then I attached the boards starting at the front using #12 x 2 hex head stainless steel screws with a #12 ss washer under the head. Counter bored 1/2 hole to clear head. Used ratchet straps to pull board flush with outside edge of trailer frame. I was able to do it as a one man job with straps and green fresh wood.
Boat no longer rocks going down road, should have done this sooner.
These boats have been around for a while, inspect those bunks mine almost cost me a small/large fortune.

Good luck

Computer kept locking up after keying everything in after five tries,Got it to work.

I need to do that on the trailer for the 97 SN 196 I just brought home. I have a pretty bad feeling they may be structural at this point. That old painted tube trailer has some holes. Took a welding machine from Walmart to keep the axle together for the trip home. Thanks for the reminder though!

The Ram Lin trailer company in Orlando will completely recondition the trailers for a very fair price

Can you post pics and explain the wedge.

My Ramlin for my 230 SAN also has double bunks( two 2x4s on each bunk). I replaced them last year and put double bunks on but I have since seen that this is not how the trailer originally came. I feel like the double bunks don't shape to the hull as well. I am interested in this.

I am also curious about these wedges as I’ve never seen them on a stock CC trailer.
I own/owned 2 - ‘93s, a 95 and now a 2000 and none had a wedge. I do like the idea as I can see how it may help keep the bow from rubbing up and down on the front bow pads.

It’s just a 2x4 shim, meh maybe 12” long that’s between the trailer and bunks on back end, sorry Petey I meant transom. Without it the last 18” of the hull where the hook is, is left unsupported and it’s leaves a gap. Originally my trailer didn’t have the he/she’s and I noticed the gap once Ramlin pointed it out. Now there’s shims and it closes up the gap. I’ll look when I get home to see if there’s anything exposed to take a picture of but I bet it’s all carpeted over well. Note my trailer was originally a 1991 Correct Craft trailer. Now it’s more Ramlin than CC.

This is where the gap would be if it weren’t for the wedges. Mine are covered but I was able to feel that they are 24” by maybe 5/8” tall at the
Frank, I use this link below for posting pictures from iPad/iPhone.

Of course I don’t know how to properly post a link from iPhone. I usually count on Pete for fixing them, he’s the best at that.
