I am going to add a Voltage Sensitive Relay System to my boat. I am linking the VSR with a Blue Sea Systems 350 Amp E-Series Battery so I can have a house battery and a starting battery. In addition to avoid being stranded, I am hoping resolve an issue with low voltage to my Perfect Pass. If my blower is on, or if I am filling my ballast tank, or bilge pump kicks on, the PP starts beeping from low voltage. I only have a dash stereo (no additional equipment). I have the PP power supply to the ignition switch and separate ground from the the PP to the battery,

I am thinking of keeping the everything but the stereo and PP on the engine battery in hopes this will resolve the issue. Does this make sense?

Thanks
Tom

If your engine is running & the electrical system has low voltage, it would seem you have a charging or wiring issue. You may want to address that before adding circuitry.

Tom,
I agree with Chris regarding the wiring issue. Have you upgraded the wiring up to the dash? What is the voltage drop from the engine to the dash?

You have PP going to ign switch but what size wiring is going to ignition switch from battery and what is it’s route? Adding a battery won’t solve any problems if wiring after battery isn’t up to par. Frankly a second battery is a waste of space and weight in these boats, totally unnecessary.

Thanks for the input. In the past I have looked at voltage loss at the ignition switch and I do have some but can’t remember how much. When I check voltage on the PP system it shows around 11.5 if I remember correctly. The dash is old and I have tried to clean and check but not sure I have done/fixed anything. I like the idea of running new power supply lines to the ignition switch. I think the wire from ignition to PP is 14.

As always I appreciate the advice

Tom
