New Seats for 84 SN 2001?

Help! The driver's seat in my 1984 Ski Nautique 2001 is falling apart, as the wood is rotted and the only thing holding the seat together is the upholstery! Although the observer's and rear seats need to be reupholstered, the wood structure appears to be holding up. Any advice on whether I should "rebuild" the driver's seat using marine/treated wood and reupholstering everything to match, or should I buy new seats with a plastic frame? If I buy new seats, which mfg would you recommend? Do the seats for newer correct craft boats fit? Does the mounting pattern for the newer CC driver's seat match the one on my boat? I really like the newer CC driver's seat, especially the flip up cushion! The only concern with putting new seats in my boat is the loss of "stock" status. Thoughts? Recommendations? I rebuilt the seat frames (bases or whatever) in my 87 SN. I used 1/2" plywood (not treated or anything special). I laminated it with epoxy resin and fibergla$$. Then I was able to just replace the foam. That is an inexpensive yet quality repair.

In the future I have plans to convert the driver seat to a flip up design, add some stylish curves to the observer bench seat, and make the three piece rear seat into one. I'll build the bases and take the existing upolstery to the local shop for revisions.

You should be able to handle this project. Just be sure that if you staple your upholstery back that you use stainless steel staples (available at Lowes, Home Depot, Ace, etc...)
