Whats the best way to repair a drain plug on the engine block that is stripped?

68, Sometimes you can retap the threads deeper. Since pipe is a tapered thread the plug will just go in farther. If not then you will need to drill it out and tap to the next larger size. Say from a 1/4 to a 3/8 pipe.
