i took the 81 nautique out today afer finally putting an in-line fuel filter on. cranked fine, ran fine. after about 45 minutes of running the boat started sounding like it running out of fuel. it was. when i looked at my in-line filter, i saw no fuel in it. this is also a problem that i have before. now that i have an in-line filter, i see it is a fuel, or in my case, a no fuel problem. does a mechanical fuel pump do this? run great for a while and then all of a sudden stop, then start back?????

The problem could be your pump but could also be a bad fuel line, clogged check valve in the tank, clogged pickup tube or other fuel filter (besides the one you just added).
