Well, back by popular demand and numerous questions about it, we decided to do it again. The 2nd Annual Southwest Reunion will again be hosted on Lake Lewisville (Dallas, TX) this 2010. This year’s promises to be a lot bigger and better with what's looking to be a far larger turn out already with as many inquiries that I have already had. Of course Buxton Marine is on board again to help out as well. Last years event was a lot of fun and this year's looks to take it up a notch or two. Many details will follow concerning lodging and events. So if you like warm water, hot babes, cold beverages, and cool boats, plan on coming to the Big "D" June 10th thru the 13th!

If I were not already committed, I would come down to join in with this.
Sounds like a really great time. Maybe I can be there for the 3rd.

http://www.town-mall.net/lakes/lakelewisville.html - Up to the minute lake information

Lake Lewisville is located minutes north from Dallas/Fort Worth and is just off of I-35. It will be easily reached as there are many major highway arteries that will lead you there. There is an abundance of camping/RV locations as well as many restaurants, bars, and hotels. Local venues include Texas Ranger baseball, Six Flags, horse racing, and shopping for the land-lovers.
Lake Lewisville Party Cove will entertain us. There are two big restaurants, Sneaky Petes(Tons of fun last year!) and "Charlies". The lake is fairly big. Maps of campgrounds and ramps are available.
Sneaky Pete's could easily host a days/nights worth and would seem like and ideal location. It has plenty of dock space, two pools, 12 bars, 4 sand court volleyball courts, a restaurant, and a separate reception room w/ private access.
Public Marinas Name Location Phone Number
Eagle Point Lewisville 972-436-6561
Lakeview Lake Dallas 940-321-2675
Cottonwood Creek Little Elm 972-292-1100
Pier 121 Lewisville 972-625-2233
Camping reservations can again be made at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
The campground has electrical and water hook-ups for those with R.V.'s or trailers. That is were I stayed last year and was very impressed. It also has wi-fi and a nice laundrey facility. It is a "stones throw" away from the lake and golf course.

We had two great spots (Wakeboard Cove) and a spot northwest of the bridge that we had to ourselves. We never saw any fast boats. We'll put in over by Buxton's.

Ryan, you know you count on me. I am anyways on that lake during the weekend. Let's have a meeting and start planning the logistic. Boat Dr. last year gave me a couple of ideas. Like setting a base camp where everybody meets. Anyways, let's meet for beer or something. Hey, maybe I can get my shirt from last year. I never went to Buxton to pick it up.

About the dangerous stuff things have change because of that. The game warden are all over the place specially in the "cove". With the type of boats we have we can't stay too long in the open areas where they usually open up. So far I have only seen a few of these cigarette boats. Nowadays I think big cruisers and WB boat are the most of them. Another tip is that if you are driving at night stay in middle and don't get close to the stumps, north side. Usually I hang out with friends till late. I have seen one accident around 3am. I think it would have been avoided with a little bit common sense, lights and don't park in the middle of the cove by yourself. Nobody was hurt, just the pride of the owner.

Ok, now that I'm back from St. John's and can focus more time and energy towards this event, I was hoping I could get some ideeas on who would like to attend and maybe how many in there group. We were going to do T-shirts again this year, but I also thout about doing visors or hat as well. Any thoughts? I encourage as many of you to come as possible, boat or no-boat. I was just trying to get a figure on the number of hats and shirts to order.

Glad to see some chatter. I'm sorry I have not been updating often. I've been away from home working since I got back from St. John's and have not been able to do as much leg work as I want to. I'm hoping some of the Okie boys plan on coming down. I'd really like to see the new v-drive and some new interior work that they have been working on. There is a lake right across from the rig though! I whonder if I'd get in trouble if I brought the boat out here?

I have not looked either, but if plan to stay there by the park in camping over there off 407. Lake park it is.. But if you still can not find anyone to split costs, let me know.   [:Y:]

I think I am gonna bring my boat no matter what, its kinda the point to me. I am also planning on driving up Friday morning or Thursday night if I camp. Its about a 4-5hr trip for me.

Some people are showing up on Thursday. I'm working on a deal with a RV company to see if we could get some deals on them bringing in and setting up some large trailers to rent for the weekend at the campsite right on the water. If anyone wants to fly in or come in early you're more than welcome to stay at the house. I plan on staying at the campsite / RV park. It has WIFI, laundry, security, electric, and a store. There are always hotels nearby. I think I posted some earlier in this post.

If it is the spot I'm thinking of it's nice. Good shade during the hot part of the day, tables, grill, and you can mooch my electric and water if needed. Nice view too, always fun to sit and watch some weekend warriors load ther boats too.

Ryan, I believe I am gonna be able to make it. I'd definitely be interested in renting an RV if you can have them set em up. Let me know if they are willing to do it and the prices. I will probably be there around noon on Friday.

If we can't get the RV's I'll probably stay in a nearby hotel. If that's the case, I'm worried about keeping my boat at the hotel overnight. Any solutions for boat storage?

Boat Dr. if your going, we can caravan. I live in Pineville. I plan on leaving Friday morning.

Ryan, thanks for the hard work setting the event up. Can I ask one more thing of you, can you post a map of the lake showing where the cove is that we will be hanging out at? And show any places to avoid, stumps etc.

I'll have some maps of the lake to keep with you when you guys get there. You could also look online. The camp area is secure, in fact they lock the gate @ 11:00 PM. If you stay in a hotel, you could still leave the boat there with the rest of ours. As far as were we will be at on the lake depends on wind direction / water conditions. There are several spots to choose from which is nice.

Here is a http://www.campers4rent.com/18_Hybrid_Travel_Trailer/18hybridfttraveltrailer.shtml - link for some camper /R.V. retals that are nearby. This would allow someone to stay at the campsight with a.c and showers for kids and the ladies.

Ryan,

Why doesn't Keith recognize this reunion in his reunion page?

Posted By: SN206
Date Posted: May-12-2010 at 10:57pm
To make it one of the official CCF reunions would mean addditonal time spent between organizing the others and work on the websight. In addition trying to devote time to work, a new house, and a family. He supports us from behind the scenes and does what he can.

Also IMO, until we show the organization and the crowd interest we are still in the "gathering" category. Kudos goes to Ryan "SN2906'. For such young event he is pulling some major sponsors. I hope I can devote more time to help him. We just need to keep working towards making this event into a regular event. Let's keep the excitement and perseverance going.

I meant "SN206" is kind of hard typing while having a beer at the bar. Ryan, want to have a beer at Hooters in Grapevine next week? Also, I think we need to show that this is a family event and not a crazy Lewisville party cove style event. Then again, these are just my thoughts.

Anthony, I'm always down for beers. I may be working in Oklahoma after this weekend, but I'll try. I think Kirk is working on the flyer, maybe you could post some around the local hot spots. We had a pretty good family turn out last year and I would like for it to stay that way. After hours are always up to whomever.

Thanks for the info, just curious. And I completly understand the whole time devotion thing. I can barely devote enough time to keep my boat up and be able to ride once and a while. Also I appreciate everything you are doing ryan, if you need any help let me know. What are we up to now on committed people/boats/sponsors? I think between myself and bradtm16(old college buddy) we are bringing 2 boats, and 4-6 people.

Ryan, don't worry. Maybe after next week we can meet. Thanks for being a great CCF friend.

What camping spot are you staying at Ryan?

I would like to organize a cookout / social event there Saturday night. However, like the St. John's River run, which went flawless, I don't want anyone feeling tied down or commeted to any plan. As the "The Doc" once said, "The plan is, there is no plan".

I'll be at R.V. spot #84, which is going to be right by you guys, but also within eyesight of the boat parking area. Let's start getting ideas for a cook out for Saturday night.

Ryan,
How many people we have so far?

Posted By: SN206
Date Posted: May-26-2010 at 2:12am
Don't have a tally yet. I'm sorry to ask, but I may need some help from you local boys. I was told this evening that the oncologist said my mother will likely pass away in the next few weeks. I would like to spend as much time with her as possible. Seems everything is on track right now, but if we could start a tally going, it would be helpful in the preparations. I would still like to have a cook out / gathering Saturday night at the campground.

Ryan Robinete (SN206) 1 boat 2 persons. Staying at Campground
James Clifton        1 boat 3+ persons and a dog.

Sorry to hear about your mom Ryan. Once again, thanks for all your hard work!!!

Brad Mitchel 1 boat 2 persons
Matt Morse   1 boat 2 persons

I'm gonna try to make the cookout Saturday evening, but I plan to attend the pro wakeboard tournament that afternoon also. I'd like to try to hang out with some people maybe Friday evening maybe at Sneaky Pete's. Not sure where that's at, but I've heard alot about it on this thread, lol.

Ryan,

Sorry to hear about your mom also. I know its tough, My grandpa has been in the ICU for over 3 weeks now, about 3 times so far they didn't expect him to make it through the night. The family has him on DNR now after they have revivied him 5 times over the past 2 weeks, 3 of those were in 1 evening.

Looks like Brad already acounted for me. And thanks for all your hard work on putting this thing together.

Here is the count so far, keep'em coming and I will keep the tally going...

Boats: 4-5
People: 10-11

Also I have another 10 members that say they are coming since the thread started, but don't have a boat count/people count from them. Ryan shows a number of 11 boats very early on in the thread but I don't know who all he is counting.
