where can I get the lift ( not sure what you call 'em, the piston thing that holds up the rear glass in a suburban) that holds the dash glove box open. I tried auto parts, all they have are the long ones

They have them in the boat us catalog. I just replaced mine and it was an exact replacement.

Napa has the exact replacement in several strengths. The stocker is a 20lb lift, but I got a 40lb lift which really works nicely. Should be about 23 bucks. Rick over on planet nautique has the exact part number from Napa listed in an old post over there.

Johnnyc,

It should be called a "gas shock." BKH

I think "gas spring" is a more widely used description/terminology. "Gas Shock" is more desriptive of an automotive suspension component.

I think this is the http://www.planetnautique.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=4985&highlight=gas+spring - post referenced above.
