Roger,
The idea of making reproduction cast iron out of NDF is catching on over here too! The art Deco base pictured is from OWWM.com for a Walker Turner band saw. The restorer could find one so he made it. Great work Pete, I know your a true wood guy  but Mdf has its place  matched in real well 
Here is a cheeky peek at one of our unit before its rusted and aged,all Mdf in Steel,Brass,Copper
