We lost our four legged friend this weekend.   I can only think of a couple of times in my life where I've felt as broken up about doing what was best for someone, especially someone who was an integral part of our family. Zac was diagnosed with cancer 6 months ago, and we chose to treat him with homeopathic remedies as opposed to chemo; knowing that even with chemo, his time was short. I wish he'd been able to experience the boat this summer, I am sure he would have loved it.

In my experience its one of life's toughest day, Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for you loss Kris.
I'll never forget the day I had to give up on my Dobermann... Really loved that dog and still miss him... Never had another dog after him.

Sorry to hear about that, we have a 12 year old Rottie that won't be with us much longer. He will be the 3rd Rot we've had to say goodbye to and it is never easy.

The Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I read that poem 11 yrs. ago when we put our lab down. I read it again 2 weeks ago when we put had to put our latest Lab down. Brings a tear and smile each time I read it.

Thanks guys      I can't say how much that dog meant to my family and I, and I am sure you all feel the same about your pets. He was as much one of the kids as the kids are.     While I know that not all here are people of faith, I have to believe that God loves animals too, and I agree that heaven would be lacking with out them... I look forward to meeting him again some day

.

We got him 2 months after our wedding, so yep I understand the first child statement.   He was good practice for our two legged kids
