Does anyone have an old rope like this laying around that they could part with?

I'm not promising anything Larry but I might have an extra plastic float,I'll check. The rest you could just make up,wood handle and cheap polypropylene rope like ACE hardware has!

Gary, My thoughts were the same as yours, the float is the key. A repurposed broom stick (do they still make wooden broom sticks?) and the crappiest grade of rope from Ace, and the only thing missing is the float. If you can track one down, that would be great.

Thanks.

Larry,   Check out midwestdowel.com they have hickory dowels in 7/8" and 1".

I went to Ace hardware looking for a replacement wood handle for my old leaf rake.   Got weird looks instead of a new handle.

The floatie ball was partly responsible for my very first introduction to face plants.   Once in a great while I would pull the float back to the handle and stick the handle behind the knees.

The only thing I have is maybe 50+ ft of old blue/green rope.

Is that a plain wooden handle on a polyethlene rope? I have an old yellow rope, but the handle is rubber-coated metal, black. I might have just a wood handle laying around (somewhere) because I used to use them at my ski school in the old days.

Just picked up this NOS bad boy for $4.25 off ebay. A little newer than the original post, but still 60s-70s so close enough

I just picked up an orange one "new in package" looks to be late 70's early 80's with a float manufactured by berkley in Iowa if you are still looking. I can post a photo.
