So I've been working on my nautique all year to get it restored, id really like to meet up with some other nautique owners before the season ends. I was thinking it would be cool to set something up for a day in September?

Yeah, we'd be interested. We live in Statesville and have never been on Lake Norman. We go to Lake Lookout, much quieter, less boat traffic and more family friendly. Let us know! Count us in!

We've had a mini on Norman in Sept twice down at Reid and Lauries place a over the last 3 years. Fans have asked Reid and myself if they were going to do it again this year but he hasn't said much about it with all the other Mini's going on. Be rest assured that I will bring it up for discussion on our road trip to the CT mini this week and I'm sure the guys there will ask him the same. It's a great way to end the year for many of us Fans to hang with each other til the SJRR in March.

Awesome! glad to be getting so many replies about this. What date does everyone think we should shoot for? Looks like the 14th, 21st, and the 28th are all saturdays. I would like to try and get as many CC fans together as possible. I think it would be great to meet other CC fan's that their boats as much as I love mine!

Need discussion and input from Reid...... I say give Laurie a break from all those folks crashing her place!

I have offered using my place for a Smith Mountain Lake Mini-Mini. our place is just a home (not a compound) but we can sleep a quite a few. There's a lakeside motel closeby that can handle everyone.

I think Norman is more central.... and warmer, thanks to the Power Plant... If Lake Norman doesn't work out, we'll do an early October flotilla and BBQ at our place on SML...

Alex,

There is a big get together in CT this weekend. Traditionally, the folks will have to get this one out of the way before they can nail down a date on the next one. You will see more interest on this topic next week after everyone has regrouped from this coming weekend in CT.

Regards,

Donald

Think Lake Murray was done this year - Norman is quite central.

Certainly Laurie deserves a break (not sure about Reid)..

I like the idea of Norman...we just don't have to decend on the Pinkham Compound.......

Depends on the weekend Steve.... I'm game but alas it's Football season and both girls are in the Marching band. One's a Senior and the other a Freshman so it's a pretty unique year. Y'all decide a date so I can try and plan around it to make a trip back there.

Steve,

We can do the Davidson Island thing. I have never been there, but I can find it. There is also an island we call goat island beside Governor's Island. There are several so call goat island's on Lake Norman.

I live Lake View and trailer so we can not do my place.

I'll be on Norman this coming weekend with a blue 83 if anyone's around. Staying up in the Denver area but cruising down to Holiday Marina/ Rusty Rudder area routinely to see family. Let me know if anyone is out and about. Too bad I'm too early for the real get together.

I don't know what is referred to as Davidson Island. I've been gone too long! Is that one of the two islands near the sand bar, or one of the small islands closer to 77?

Davidson Island is North of D 8 and South of D11

If you have LKN GPS map Davidson island is number 157. Best place to meet is on back side of island.

Okay y'all what's the scoop on this? I'm thinking about making the trip over for this one. I thought I had my girls next weekend but was informed that I didn't and cuz they had plans already. Might just have to fly in after work Friday and crash this little party so I'll have to bum a ride and pull from whomever.

I'm guessing one of you Norman regulars just need to set a time. I had dinner with Donald on Mon as he was crusining right through south Atlanta on his way to Macon and we discussed this mini but never a time. He told me that I just needed to plan on heading up there but nothing concrete was ever made. He was gonna talk to Steve K and possibly Reid to see if he was gonna show up. My guess is that he would he's right there on the water. Anyone talk to Race City Marine? Nautique Dealer right there in Mooresville!

Guys,

Is 9:00 AM too early? If not lets say we meet at Davidson Island at 9:00 AM. It will likely just be me and my Dog. I was planning on packing a SUB Sandwich in the cooler for lunch. I will launch my boat at the Beatty's Ford access on Unity Church Rd. in Denver, NC about 8:30 AM. Then I can motor up to Davidson, Island which is not very far at all. My boat is a Taffy White 1980 Ski Nautique with Navy Blue Graphics. My Cell Phone number is 704-308-0002. It will be piloted by a handsome devil.

I will be ready to do a full CCFAN inspection of Steve's new ride. I will bring the hole saw to take some stringer core samples and will be on the lookout for only factory added equipment. A full report will be posted on CCFAN.

I am looking forward to seeing some old friends and meeting some new ones.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. I was great to meet some new CCFans (Matt and Keith) that use Lake Norman. I also would like to thank Jay and Michele for the cool logo shot glass. It will be put to good use. My dog Godiva had a blast hanging with Boaty, Skipper and Winston. She has been in doggy recovery all day today. Steve's 91 BFN is Bad A@# with that beautiful 454 motor. I am glad to say that it passed CCFAN inspection with flying RED colors.

It is always great to see Dr. Steve, Morfoot and Reid / Lori. Toward the late afternoon, Reid offered his place and we moved off of Davidson Island to Reid's compound. We got to play with Reid's beautiful Blue Skier and Shrimp Tique.

It was indeed a great day.

Sorry for the delay guys but I was on Norman the first weekend of October with the NC/VA guys then Lanier last weekend with the GA guys.So I'm just now getting these pics up.

As always it was great hanging out with CCFans I've known for years and meeting new ones. Unfortunately the weather wsn't in our favor for skiing as the wind was blowing pretty hard and sun in kept dodging in and out of the clouds once it did start to warm up a bit. That being said we did get to play on the water a bit driving boats that were available and using the Shrimptique as a tug boat when one of Reids neighbors Chris Craft quit running after paying us a visit. I did get the chance to see a home built one of kind boat that resembled a Riva that took the owner 7 years to build. It was really a neat boat and of course I didn't have the camera with me to take pics as I was playing the role of First Mate.

A college friend of mine who lives in Charlotte came up for a visit with her girls and were chomping at the bit to go go a ride so of course I tokk them out in the 72 Skier. The smiles on their faces said it all as they had a ball! Laurie picked up the camera and snapped a few pictures and did a great job doing so. We even got a buzzed by a B-17 Bomber that was flying over Norman all weekend which was really pretty cool. Thanks again for a great weekend guys and look forward to the next one.

Reids new to him Shamrock

This is a project boat that Reid is working on with someone on a hull that's based of the Shrimptique if I understood it it correctly. Neat rig but porposes like no tomorrow. The thing screams but you wouldn't expect anything else from Reid.

Sunset's of Pinkham Point are just freaking awesome!

B-17 buzzing right over Reids place.

My college friend Jennifer who came up for the day on Sunday.

"CORRECT CRAFT.........There is NO substitute!"

Laurie's shot of the day!

The story behind this next picture is that Bruce Hart gave Reid a case of Moxie when we saw him up in CT a month ago. He then told him in convo at some point that he needed to try a lil' "Capt" with it next time he had one so who are we to disagree? ..."Here's to you Bruce!"

and hence the name of the orange Cuda, Captain Moxie. You guys look like you got into it pretty well.

That B-17, a B24 and a P51 buzzed my house in Portland a couple weeks ago. One of the benefits of living close to the airport and being in line with the short runway. Cool planes.

Old, old family friend. Great guy and amazing boat builder. He built a boat, from scratch, patterns and all, modeled on a Riva and he has something in the works now. He visited when I was down on Norman a few weeks ago and came in that Chris and I was so disappointed he didn't come in his other boat. When he saw the Nautique I had he mentioned Reid and the boat he was building, I guess referring to the Shrimptique. Small world.

We had a great time, too meeting all of you.   Everyone made us feel like we have been friends forever. It is amazing what a common interest does. Thanks for all of the great pictures. Let us know when you are getting together. Joan & Keith (Keefers)

I don't know about Norman but as of last Thurs Lanier was 54 degrees. Maybe I have been in the south too long but that's at least 11 degrees below the temp I will get wet in.

Where are y'all meeting? We were in Lake Lookout last Saturday testing out our new boat and Jay was in the water for about 30 seconds and his feet were numb. Current temp in Lake Norman is showing the water is 48. We're game to meet y'all though. Just let us know!

Folks,

We will be at Reid's dock on Saturday. Boat traffic should be light but I will likely be pulling Chris over near Governor's Island area. I am planning on arriving mid morning. It should be 78 degrees ( F) on Saturday. Sunday is rainy and 60 degrees ( F). Saturday will be the best day.

Below 60? Brrrr, that's a minimum of a 4:3 long wetsuit and I know he don't have one. NautiqueJohn dropped of a 409 SN200. I want to see pics of that curly hair 50 year old in the water!
