There's been a little chatter but all offline...I wanted to call Townsend yesterday but couldn't find his number and the marina's not open for the season yet. Somehow that guy thinks that his wife having babies is more important than our drinking and skiing agenda...

Got to believe that this event will be on again this year (could just be me but seems as though it grows each year). I have spoken with Townsend a couple of times on other boating related items and I am sure that between the goofy weather (they were closed due to the snow for a few days) along with the boat show (T said they sold 10 boats during the show) they have not given this much thought.
If I recall correctly, this event typically coincides with someone's birthday which is also very close to Easter this year. It was 68 here the past couple of days - thought about putting the boat in but opted to hold off until I come back from Canada in a couple of weeks (hopefully the water will clear up some by then).

Hey bud, guess you got my message...one question, that looks like about two weeks later than the past few years, which I thought was to get in before the season started so we would have the lake to ourselves, is that not the case anymore?

And what event could you possible have that's more important than us? I call shenanigans...

C'mon Steve, 2 weeks between events is no biggie... It's not like you're coming from 12 hrs away!

I have to admit that we were assuming the late April date, though it was a little less than ideal schedule wise, personally. The 5/10 date got us excited as it would have opened up our options- not to mention warmed up the water! If it ends up being 5/3 that would be fine too, but it sounds like it's back to April?

Since everyone is probably getting ready for SJRR right now, I'm sure we won't get any details until everyone is back and dried off. Being this will be the first time for myself and Mrs. Butter, we are eagerly looking forward to getting some more details. Friends of the family have a cottage somewhere down there that we will crash at.

If I can throw an opinion at you, I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the whitel lake motel with the rest of us. If you're a skier or a drinker, the best part of this event is that we're all right on the lake, so the footers hit the water early (7:00-7:30ish) and then we all congregate around the parking lot and party to the wee hours. Neither of those are condusive to a commute. Don't get me wrong, we have a great time in the middle of the day with the boats rafted up out on the water, but the motel is super cheap, $50 a night or something and that's way worth being there for the early morning runs and late night idiocy. Just my two cents.

While it is often said (or implied) that opinions are like @$$€£££¥'s but in this case Adam is 100% correct and that if you crash elsewhere you will miss out on what makes events such as these both special and memorable (think ghost peppers). Come have fun, get a room and make some memories

Wish Smith family could make it. Considered and just too close to SJRR and too much going on. And to co-ordinate 8 with boat and 8 hour trip? I am tempted to make a "SOLO" trip up to see some Saturday morning "BF runs"? Who knows. Have a great time, and behave yourselves!!

This will be the first year since year since I bought it in 2010 that my boat will be coming "home" to white lake...that's where it came from originally and still has the white lake decals on the windshield...call me sentimental but I think that's kinda cool

Be more excited about the trailer!

My buddy Eric and I should be in mid day Fri and out on Sun as well. Not sure what we're dragging down yet- possibly the Crush.

Great news Tim! I vote for the Crush.

In regards to Mark's orange Mustang, he sent me videos of it out running just a short time after picking it up. And it looked like he really had that orange shined up from the faded out mess it was when we all saw it. So it sounds like it's running pretty good, and were going to do a quick rub rail install seminar when he shows up

The new foil is currently living in our bedroom at the lake. I don't think Val is going to let that out of her sight... she wants to be around for the maiden voyage.

Thanks for the shout out Adam....it's nice to be remembered. Little hectic lately. Like Joe, I am a bit house poor right now, not only because of the somewhat significant renovation that's been going on since September, but also because I have been "between jobs" since last winter. So I have been kind of preoccupied with dealing with that. Tho that does leave me not being "time poor" as I have had plenty of (too much) time to work on the new house. (There is still no end in sight to the projects, though) The good news is, the grey octagon sold and we have moved into the yellow cape. The timing was perfect, as the cape, although about 10% left to go, is very live-in-able. So despite being broke, I can't really use that as an excuse to not make the 2 hour trip, so I will likely be there, at least for the day saturday (yes, early enough arrival for the morning BF runs)

Adam,

Sorry for the late post and answer to your question about the boat I am towing. I am thinking about dragging the yellow '6 Blair's Banana Barefoot Boat II down, but I certainly did not want to upstage Dave Hart's new Barefooter, and will leave it on the trailer and discuss that with the Hart's!! I want a ride in Dave's boat!!

Attention!! I also have a room at the White Lake Motel with 2 beds and am offering a place to stay to anyone that needs a bed for Friday and Saturday. However, my wife says I've been known to snore, and I just wanted to be upfront with you and not suffer the normal humiliation of this site, should I (just by chance!!!!!!) disturb someone's sleep.

With the BBBB2 coming, it would be awfully nice if the BBBB1 could make the short trip over from Georgia, so the two boats could be together. Todd, have you kept in touch with Tom at all to know the boat's status? I knew he hoped to have it on the water last summer.

Todd, Looking forward to seeing your BFN again. Can't wait to get some early season skiing in. What are we expecting for water temps, low 50s?

Posted By: TRBenj
Date Posted: April-18-2014 at 11:21am
Water at WL the last few years has been in the low 70's... hopefully this year is no different! http://www.bestoflakenorman.com/about_lake_norman/weather/WaterTemp/day.php" rel="nofollow - Lake Norman looks to be in the mid-60's, and with WL being so shallow, it should be a bit warmer than that.

Theres a good reason we go south in the spring, Dave.

Posted By: JoeinNY

Low 50s good golly I hope not... As Tim states it isn't always tropical down there but at its worst I would expect high 60s... sunscreen is not in appropriate. Alright I booked the hotel and a rental car, so I should be there firstest thing Friday Morning. Ie 7 days from right now. I should be easy to pick out as the guy in the compact car with watersports equipment hanging out every window. Who is going to be around to pull the first set on the day with the best water?

Certainly not low 50s as our lake is right now at 59-60, but given recent weather, high 60s is optimistic this year. It was probably close to 68ish last year, but that might be stretching it this year. We've been in the 30s the past few nights, which isn't helping at all. Still, better than solid! But, forecast is for low 80s all next week and pushing 90 friday, so you never know.

Atta boy Jerry! We'll teach the twins how to load the shot ski! Up to you if you want to teach them to unload it, haha.

There's not much nearby, one little diner and the Scotsman gas station/food mart, which is across the street, but isn't good for much more than charcoal and beer. Someone with more knowledge of the area may disagree, but I would say bring whatever you need.
