I just thought I would let everyone know that posted replies for a simple chance to lower fuel prices. I need fuel just like everyone else but is sucks to pay $100.00 for a good time and it didn't include beer or booze! The great part about that topic is I got a little of everyones personal political views. Good luck with your opinions everyone but thats not changing the fuel prices. Thanks to everyone for the good feed back not the I know all att*tude like a few people that replied. Thats one good reason I wouldn't ever want to join a club or a website like this because someone always has to be a dick!

62 said it best, CHILL man.

bottom line is your theory is like everyother chain letter that hasn't worked and won't work. i also read the other thread and (maybe i a way off but) nobody was being a dink. that was a pretty civil discussion. the weather has been very nice here in the great lakes region, so get out and enjoy the boat while you can, you can always make more money.   Or just put in the garage and stare at it, you live once, live it up. with regards to how much money we spend on gas for our trucks and other toys, this is petty. step back, relax and enjoy the ride. don't sweat the small stuff, and nearly all of it is small stuff.

Didn't you have to join to post the above comment?

I do feel your pain...I don't want to pay 3.00 a gal either.

Not to worry folks... sounds like the price of fuel will curtail his activities.

Hey, maybe we should start putting diesel engines in our CC's (like that guy who built the steel boat in Brazil) and run bio-diesel. You can make it for about $.50 a gallon in your garage from waste vegetable oil that your local mom & pop fry joint will give you for free (some of them will even pay you to take it). So... next guy who has to replace his motor has to put a diesel engine in it!

I missed the original post so I searched and read it. Anybody that believed that email about buying gas from independents making gas prices go down is probablly still waiting for Bill Gates to send them $20 for forwarding an email to 20 of their friends.
OPEC controls the price of crude.
Gas prices would go down if we could build more refineries in the US instead of importing refined fuel from Overseas. Or if we cut our consumption.
Gas prices have gone up recently because of the refineries switching to Summer Gasoline (it happens every Spring).
China's demand for oil is and will be a much larger issue in the future.
I'm with J_I_H. Buy some stock in Exxon or Shell or ConnocoPhillips or BP. Cash your Dividend check every Quarter and smile. I'll be happy to broker the deal for you if you need a stock broker.
One other thing, Europe pays $6/Liter for gas because most of the cost is TAX. They're Socialist. Somebody has to pay for "Free" health care.
There, now I'm the biggest dick.

This guy thought he was gettin' bad replies and he didn't even hear from 79!

I got a big AMEN for ya Morfoot!

Do you know how you can tell who the biggest dick is? Its the first one to speak up when you say dick in general to a group of replies! As for wood 62 I wasn't looking for a smart ass reply but you have done a great job at it.
I'm sure you have more money than Bill Gates and if so more power to ya. But some of us that live in the middle class and aren't almost retired have to keep an eye on there fun tickets$$$. I want to personally appoligize to anyone I offended with my foul reply earlier. I was just looking for anyway to save a buck so I can possibly retire someday.

Sweetnautique...take it easy on the judgemental part! You have 10 posts, hardly enough to know all the folks on this site.I re-read the original post and really don't know what ruffled your feathers? I am sure no one entended to do so.

Gas...high prices suck and we are all in the same boat(pun intended)...I still plan to be on the water...and plan to be bitching at the pump! The sad truth of it all is (IMO) there really is not much we can do about it

Just make sure you all buy Exxon gasoline...as that is the stock I own. On one hand, I complain about the gas prices and on the other hand, I smile. The dividend checks more than pay for my monthly fuel consumption for all my vehicles.

You could always use reg octane to save a couple bucks instead of the high octane premium I use, and I've got a set of heads at the machine shop right now getting bigger valves put in, they shouldn't use that more fuel.

There's always a price to pay to get into the game, if your not willing to pay to play, then get a new hobby or get an I/O or OB and float around with the engine off.

I agree, the gas prices suck. Here are a few things that will help:
Make sure your engine is tuned up. New plugs, rotor, cap, points if you've got them. Modify your driving habbits. There's no need to slam the throtle all the way forward. Give it just enough gas to get on plane quickly and stay on plane. And get rid of the extra weight, including the extra 1000 pounds of water some are carrying around.
That's the most effective way to save money on fuel.

You're right, but I still do them
Here's a ploy to get friends to kick om their share:
Stop on the way to the lake and fill up the truck and the boat and buy some ice and some beer and some soft drinks and make sure they're whith you when you pay. Then when you get in the truck say something like, damn gas is going up!
Doesn't work so well for me. I live on the lake and the boat is full of gas and the frige is full of drinks. But I'm a gracious host

if you need to cut fuel bills why dont you convert to run on propane like i do because in uk our gas is just too expencive

it costs me around a third to a quater of the price to run because there is no tax to pay plus its better for the environment

you do get a slight performance loss but with a python engine its still got more power than a small block

Posted By: David F
Date Posted: April-20-2006 at 3:48pm
Here in the states, I am guessing that Propane is only about $0.50 less than gasoline per gallon. And, I believe, Propane has less energy density than Gasoline, so in the long run I doubt there is much of an economic incentive to make the conversion. In Europe, yes. USA, no.

And the other thing you forgot FI vs. Carb

the system i run is a usa made impco system
on mine the fuel injection manifold is removed and it has an edelbroc performer with a propane carb type thing on instead
like you say prob not worth the investment in usa but it does run smoother and quieter and with roughly 110 octane rating it doesnt knock

and remember carbon and hydrocarbon imissions are about 70% less

Propane does have the advantage that it wont go bad on you as quick as gas!! But for sure is more than gas and to heat with on the given BTU content per gallon in the U.S.
