No new babies, no longer with the band, I now have time!!!! Lets plan this thing. The weekend of April 25th? Same as last year? I have a new guy on board here, Austin, who is pumped about it as well. This will be one of the few times I'm allowed away from my Nautiqueparts.com desk so lets make it count! Jackie Deen, your girlfriend, aka Amanda, says you aren't allowed to miss. Godfather, you got your one pass last year.... tough luck, you are coming this year.... if I have to call the big man myself... I will have the official White Lake Marine service boat restored and ready to go by then. (1980 Ski Nautique)

Ideas? Lets make this the biggest yet! No excuse! I am planning early this year to make it right!

Twins and I had a great time last year, and we won the Bimini!! We will be planning on a return with the whole Smithfamily if possible.

Well, I am looking forward to this event. Let Amanda know that I have very little Amanda History (aka: Kim 1, Kim 2, etc), so let's venture into worlds unknown. I plan on bringing Miss February. The Smith family is always a welcome addition to any event. hopefully we will have a full compliment of "snow birds" as well.

I am looking forward to it. I am sure my daughter Natalie will join me and maybe my oldest Madeleine. I know that my two son's Bud and Weiser will also be with me.

Sounds like my 80 will have a sister to play with.

Still a bit too early to nail anything down on my end, but we are tentatively planning to make the trip down.

Before you solidify a date, you may want to talk with our local RCM rep and white lake regular attendee, as I remember him saying he has a conflict around that time this year. Might be nice to accommodate him if you can- possibly move a week later than usual?

Kristin and I will be there - thinking of bringing the Mustang and the 206. Hopefully Donald will not be monopolizing all the carb tuning efforts of those in the know and I can obtain some assistance on the Mustang....
Should anyone be flying into Charlotte and need a ride let me know

Come on Larry, it performed admirably as a flyer departure point for Dave last year, gotta call that a win.

Planning on being in attendance as usual. Just have to make sure that work thing doesn't get in the way.

I guess I got that much going for me.

I should be good this year. I will actually run it for a few minutes this year before hauling it down. Plus I will have my can of carb cleaner with me (the problem last year...I had it running within 30 minutes of getting home that evening) and my six pack of Mallory flat caps...the most likely culprit when my boat starts sputtering (as you might recall).

I'll throw in my $.02 and say y'all need to move the date back a weekend so Brothers Moj & Paul can make it. If Townshend can make that happen then add me to the list. I'll touch bases with Reid and possibly fly into Charlotte and ride down with his posse possibly dragging one of his boats with me.

Not sure what you mean by "back a weekend", Tim... Better talk with Reid as I know he has a conflict in April. I *think* a later date (may 2) might be a better option.

Posted By: Morfoot

Back as in a week or two later Tim...Seems like the weekend of the 25th is conflicting with many who haven't been and want to attend. If you move it earlier in the month the you may not have some attend as they are still recovering from SJRR.

Hey guys, remember the start of the boating season on the lake. Is it true they open the lake to the common people the first weekend in May? If so, just a thought. A week earlier, Apr. 18-19 or May 2-3 should not affect the availability of adult beverages, so I could make either. Would the first week of May have an effect the room availability?

It would be great if everyone's schedule would be such they could attend all reunions but unfortunately that will never happen. The closer to "lake open" we get the more "wally's" are apt to be on the water.

And as I am sure many of know it will not include Marty's B-Day

Thats correct, I believe he told me the week of the 25th and the one before are both an issue for him. The May 2nd date is more condusive..

Does that afftect the local accommodations?

The lake is "open" all year long. When the boat ramp "store" is closed, you don't pay to use the ramp. The lake doesn't really get busy until school lets out. Most of the motels there don't open for business until a week or so before Memorial Day weekend. If you back up too early in April it might be too cold, unless you're from New York ,Ohio or Connecticut.

...and for motels, the one most of you were staying at was opening early for the season to accommodate you.

The Motel also uses our visit as a dry run to get ready for the Motel Association's FIVE STAR INSPECTION CERTIFICATION committee.

All joking aside, the Motel is perfect for what we are doing.

Well, I don't have much better news as Laurie and I were invited on a sailboat cruise for the 25th anniversary of some longtime friends. We're gonna be gone from the 24th thru the 4th. So that leaves me open for the weekend prior or two weeks after the originally suggested date of the 25th.

Luckily, I married well - Val is loaded.... and the kids' wedding is cheap and in the boonies. We are good....

I might be looking for a roomate though. Bunking with Todd last year was a hoot. Don't get enough time with my CCFan Buddies!

And I like Donald, will pawn that boat at a fair rate. Weddings can get expensive, as the "The Bling will Sting". You are welcome to my assist in this arena, I have been exposed.

We are open to popular opinion, but may be forced to come boatless, as time travel may be a challenge.

He will need to get his boat out of my father's barn. We will have to move two other 206's, one with a 6 liter, out of the way to get to his stang.

Guys after looking at the lake schedule, and seeing the posts here it looks like the 18th weekend of April will be best. If we get into May we get into yahoo season/Mothers Day/Water Festival/Memorial Day/etc.

Lock it in for the 18th, Townsend. Just be sure to order up some warm weather in the weeks leading up to it, te water has been borderline chilly the last weekend in April in previous years!

Gary, you don't get to complain about proximity to the SJRR dates unless you are legitimately planning to do both! I agree they are a little tight- but I think moving the SJRR earlier is an option that should be considered as a solution. Reid was the originator of that mini reunion and always went down in feb!

Yeah, I think it's a pretty safe bet that that is not going to happen.

Dave,

Natalie has her ACT's that day so I have to drive her to that test on Saturday. She is not old enough at 14 to drive herself yet. My wife will be in Durham, NC with Madeleine at the NC School of Science and Math for an event that she committed to several months ago so we have to divided and conquer that Saturday.

I am bummed. Just like they say in Washington "Its for the Children".

She is, but she is in a program called Duke Tips, through Duke University, that has invited her to take it early. She took the SAT's at 13 with a bunch of High School students. She will take the ACT's also with High School kids while she is still in middle school. She is a excellent student and seems to do well with standardized tests.

This is all a back up plan if inheriting my great looks, and my Garden's Boat, does not prove to be enough to get her into a good College in five years.

Yeah our kids got into a similar program through Northwestern University. They all start taking the ACT in 7th grade, my oldest will take it for real, as a junior next month. It is fun to see their scores change year over year. We figured if nothing else they will no what to expect when they take it for the first time!

OK sorry for the threadjack.

And good looks

Great news,

Natalie and I will be able to make the April 18 th after all.

Natalie is going to be able to sign up for a different ACT date in May. I thought this was not possible, but to my surprise it looks like Natalie and I will be in attendance after all.

I had not yet given Natalie the bad news about not being able to attend the event, and my wife broke the news to her today. She was as heart t broken as I was. Since Natalie was so disappointed, my wife then did some investigation and found out that she could get her in another date in May. Natalie (14) enjoys the event as much as I do, if not more, and considers you folks her extended family. There is a little dis-function in every family.

Donald, this is better anyway, after doing this for 3 years and taking the test in late winter/early spring, we finally figured out that it was best to take it near the end of the school year. The enlightening moment is when my daughter came home from school the Monday after the ACT and said, "I wish I could take that ACT next weekend, we just learned all this SIN, COS, TAN stuff and that was all that was on the math section" Taking it later in the year maximizes the stuff they can apply that they learned that school year. So this actually works out better for everyone involved!!!

Steve,

Good point, we also have heard not to take it in the fall since the High School Seniors are taking it again to try to improve their scores and this effects the curve. These are normally the higher scoring Seniors.

Mike,
These events are always a good time- typically folks will begin to roll in Friday around lunch time, make sure the coolers are properly prepared with plenty of fluids to keep crews hydrated and launch boats for some skiing and tie up's to catch up on plans for the upcoming season and what they plan to do to their boats. It seems as though there is always the opportunity to "wrench" on a boat or two as many of the CCFANS are rather mechanically inclined (in the correct way.
Saturday is usually kicked off with some early morning skiing then a boat display at White Lake Marine followed by a catered lunch by the fine folks at WLM then it is back to the water with the boats.
Sunday morning is kicked off with some more early morning skiing and some R/R (recovery and relaxation) from Saturday nights cook-out. Many folks try to get on the road around lunch time on Sunday depending on how far they need to travel.
Where in NC are you located?

Mike,

I am one of the NC members too. As described, the White Lake mini is a good time. I am hoping to be there (April is incredibly busy for our family and work, so it is still a little up in the air).

Pretty much everyone stays http://www.whitelakenc.com/wlmotel&campground.htm" rel="nofollow - here .

The Nautique dealership, our host, http://whitelake.com/" rel="nofollow - White Lake Marine , is right across the highway, and the boat ramp is right across from the dealership.

It is OK if you don't know anyone, we will help with introductions.

In terms of what to bring, keep an eye out on this thread; people will start to make suggestions about what to bring in terms of food to prepare/share in the evenings. If you have a boat, bring it; we will ride in, ski behind, show, fix, and admire as many boats as we are able. Many bring significant others, and some bring kids. The hotel/camp ground dosen't seem to like dogs.

If you have more questions, just ask, and we will try not to speak in code.

Hope to see you there,
Wayne
