Hello, I uploaded this picture of the boat I'm looking for. My granddad was the original owner of this boat, he purchased it new in 1973 from the factory in Orlando. It spent its entire life on the Winter Haven Chain of lakes, Its a 16' Green 1973 Correct Craft Mustang with the 302 HM. It was sold by my family many years ago (when I was too young to object) to a guy who also Lived on lake Howard, He ran the boat for a few years then sold it to a guy who I believe lived in Lakeland, who in turn sold it to someone in Orlando which is where I believe the boat is now, However, I'm looking to locate this boat and bring it back home. Its a staple through out my entire childhood and Id love to get in touch with the person who owns this boat now and at the very least get to see it again and no matter what condition its in Id love to buy it back. Please touch base with me if you are that person or know more information.

Thanks everyone

Maybe edit the thread title to be a little more specific, like "searching for green 73 mustang", also a diary entry with the pic and story. Do you have the Vin/Hin, perhaps the state could help you find it through their archives, and if all else fails just ask Siri .

Put it in the Diaries. I put my family's boat in there when I first joined CCF and a few years later a person whose family had purchased the boat from the marina where we traded it contacted me. I was also contacted by a scammer so watch out for those.

Awesome thanks for the input guys. I actually did put my story in the diaries but I believe it takes a few days for them to go over it and "activate" it. If it doesn't show up there in a day or so I'll go back in and repost. I figured this would be the best site to continue my search because when I started really looking for it over a year ago, I ran across that picture on the internet and it jumped out at me because of the lighter green patch towards the front/bottom which was a repair for a wear mark. I've contacted the previous two owners both of which were unable to come up with a hull number. I also contacted the DMV/tax collector who was able to pull up my granddads name but unable to recover a hull number. I'm actually planning on trying that avenue again and hopefully getting a different person to talk to. The last person I spoke with who owned my boat was from this site, I messaged him through the diaries when I found this picture which said SOLD. I'm guessing that's when it was sold to the guy in Orlando.
Thanks a lot guys! Again, any input or suggestions is greatly appreciated. Honestly, I'm hoping and praying that whoever has it, doesn't want a small fortune for it. But, with the memories/sentiment/love I have attached to it, I'd probably carve out a kidney to own it again.

Art? Is that someone on this site? Or a Name? I've been in touch with the two owners who owned it after us and neither of them could come up with any information or HIN sadly. But let me know what you mean?

Art can pull a build sheet on a given HIN... trying to find a build sheet/HIN based on a description may be a needle in a haystack...

But what or who is Art? And I don't know the HIN unfortunately, if I could possibly get a hold of the HIN I could probably get the most recent registration information and possibly locate it that way. If I could get it-Id even take a list of all the '73 green 16' mustangs with a 302 HM and go through all of them however many there could be.

Many states keep the same registration number for a boat's entire life. I dont know about Florida. I was able to recover the last owner of record of a 69 Mustang SS I bought through the the Wisconsin DNR after it having been abandoned for more than 15 years. It cost nothing, they just gave me the information over the phone since it's matter of public record.. If you have a photo of the boat in which the FL# is visible I would try that. If successful it will reveal the HIN.

The boat may of been on a Private Lake. I have seen many boats on private ski lakes with no registration.

My old 1980 Cypress Gardens Boat also had no registration while at the Gardens.
